Gay Rights is now under the 14th..Sessions has no choice.Honestly, I'm surprised at some of his far right picks, maybe payback to his base, don't know. I know he supports gay marriage, yet he tapped Sessions.

I do believe there are enough states to force the issue of at least de-criminalization -even legalization -but that runs into RICO banking laws by DoJ.That thread was mainly about the protests & meltdowns.
I was ready to give the benefit of the doubt, but I really can't stand what I've seen so far. I realize that my best way forward as a progressive is to fight, in whatever small way I can. Not counter-productively, but to make sure the progressive voice is heard & doesn't get drowned out.
I'm actually not as concerned about Sessions' perceived racism. I don't know the man, though some of his comments have been troubling. I'm most worried that he is going to set back the progress made w/ marijuana and a lot of people will be jailed needlessly. He also has some other views that I would call outdated & potentially repressive.

see how it goes . Eventually Congress is the only answer to "fix it"
gota watch Trump.he's a tea totaler ( no drugs, not even cigs) and he claims dope killed his brother - so I'm not thinking "moderate" applies here..Everyone on the pro-legalization side is extremely worried about Sessions. It's generally agreed that he is the absolute worst pick in terms of that one issue. His statements about pot have been like something out of the dark ages.
We'll see. He can control a lot - if he wants to, he can have the Fed policy override the will of the people & states rights. Trump's comments on the issue have been much more moderate, so hopefully his views will prevail. I also think Trump is a pragmatist, and will hopefully see the economic benefit & jobs already associated w/ legal marijuana.

Its the law of the land....FEDERAL LAW at that....
If the law stays on the books he has not only a right, but a duty to enforce the law.....
Do you want a AG that ignores the laws and picks and chooses what laws to enforce like the one we have now....that actually
had to take the 5th to avoid incriminating herself ?
Thats a rhetorical question....
Regardless, Sessions would make an amendment against gay rights if he could. He also does not support don't ask don't tell.Gay Rights is now under the 14th..Sessions has no choice.

On the other hand..reversing the tide of the states federalism would cause a LOT of uproar..
but Sessions cannot be counted on to issues something like a Cole memo
The famous marijuana memos: Q&A with former DOJ Deputy Attorney General James Cole
http://mjbizdaily.com/the-famous-ma...ormer-doj-deputy-attorney-general-james-cole/
Over 60% of the people support legalization, and over 30 states have voted for some form of legal marijuana.
Do you want an AG who ignores the will of the people?
You don't even have to answer that.
But I will anyway, ......
The US don't operate on mob rule...it operates on the rule of law....
What would you say if 30 states voted for abolishing abortion or welfare or unions, etc.....
The constitution and laws passed by the congress 'trump' what some idiots say they want or think they know what is good for us, otherwise
there would still be slaves in some states or morons trying to create their own country with our borders....
Only a fascist would describe a popular vote as "mob rule."
As usual, your ignorance is profound, and disturbing.
Mob rule is just a another term for an Ochlocracy...
Ancient Greek political thinkers regarded ochlocracy as one of the three "bad" forms of government (tyranny, oligarchy, and ochlocracy) as opposed to the three "good" forms of government (monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy). They distinguished "good" and "bad" according to whether the government form would act in the interest of the whole community ("good") or in the exclusive interests of a group or individual at the expense of justice ("bad").
Stick around and get educated.....
It's a popular vote, you incomprehensible moron.
God, you are really stupid, bravs. Your stupidity is difficult to bear.

So is a lynch mob, fool and using your logic, if its big enough, everyone else must go along with it.........THINK for a change.
Its the reason we live under a democratic republic....
if You actually think that if a majority of the people decide to disregard a law, the rest of us have to accept it....you're a bigger dunce than I thought.
As usual breathless hyperbole is showing.
Do you know what fascism is?
I always figured he would do the exact opposite of what's expected. I assumed he would come in like a new york republican, which is pretty much a democrat to the rest of the country. He'll probably be center left on things from the perspective of average republicans. He's no bible thumper or homophobe. I don't know where he falls on abortion since I've seen him say he's both pro-choice and pro-life. He'll play ball on climate it seems. Too many enemies to make if he tries to kill the gravy train. I predict no wall, and an amnesty program. Total opposite of what you'd expect.
