The Asian woman went after Trump over some comment he made about testing and framed it such that Trump was somehow culpable for people dying in this country. It was a nasty question in that sense. Trump apparently took it the same way and pointed out, rightly, that China is the responsible party. The communist party of China, specifically.

The journalist obviously assumed Trump said ‘China’ to her since she was Asian when he was simply stating a brute fact. China Virus may be politically incorrect but it is *not* incorrect.

Things devolved from there so Trump just simply left. Maybe if they could somehow find some journalists who don’t hate the man and everything *they think* he stands for it would help matters.

Maybe ask some questions that don’t begin with ‘you said’ for starters.

I finally saw snippets on the news last night. The question was more than appropriate. Did you see that he was flanked on both sides by banners that (falsely) claimed that the U.S is 'number one in testing across the world'?

The questions that you believe are 'nasty', are nothing more than demands to quantify the lies that the administration peddles dozens of times a day.


So...trump does a photo op with huge banners flanking him, and he's asked why he believes that bragging (lying) about testing is so important, when thousands of people are still dying every day.

Seems fair to me.

Asked by CBS White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang why he is so fixated on comparing the US’ testing capability to other countries as opposed to focusing on the lag that still exists here, Trump snapped: “Maybe that’s a question you should ask China. Don’t ask me, ask China that question, okay?”

Trump then called on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, who allowed Jiang a moment to follow up.

Jiang, who is Asian-American, replied to Trump: “Sir, why are you saying that to me, specifically? Why are you asking me this?”

“I’m saying it to anybody who would ask a nasty question like that,” Trump told her.

“That’s not a nasty question,” Jiang said.

Then, as CNN reporter Collins started speaking, Trump abruptly cut her off with “No, it’s okay” and “next.”

“I just wanted to let my colleague finish,” Collins said. As Collins continued to try to ask her questions, Trump suddenly ended the press conference, saying “Thank you very much” and walked away from the podium.

There will never be enough testing and tests kits to please everyone. Test kits aren’t the way out of this anyway.

This disease is unusual due to the long incubation period coupled with a relatively long period of asymptomatic contagiousness. Feds and states should be working together to test as many people as possible in hotspots to contain the virus, but that isn't happening because they can't do it. Plan B is "Fuck it, just let everyone get sick".

No, we aren't pulling out all stops like WWII. Don't forget that WWII almost bankrupted the nation. That's why war bonds were so important. The US went into this virus almost broke with Trump spending a Trillion dollars over annual revenue. Now he's spent almost 4 Trillion over revenue...and that's not even for the cost of "pulling out all stops" for testing and processing.

Also remember it's not just a matter of testing. A person can be tested in the morning and infected by their teenagers that night. There has to be enough testing to track the disease and also to retest people at risk.

And again...the issue is that trump made that media event about our superior testing abilities. He lied.

He doesn't like being challenged by anyone, but he often reacts aggressively when it's a woman doing the challenging. He acts with whatever tools are available. I live in a rural "shithole" (as referred to by a poster in another thread) and we have ample testing, hospital accommodations and staff to manage our cases. Why don't they (or you)?
