sinking of Russia's flagship might be a bad sign for the U.S. Navy

before we get to worked up remember that for some reason this flagship was not roaming the Black Sea causing trouble but docked at port.
aka sitting duck.

I have not heard that. What is your source? Every source I have heard was that it was 80 miles south of Odessa, so not in port.

The Moskva was forced to go closer to an enemy coastline than the American Navy would have to, because it had more primitive weapons control networks. That being said, the Black Sea is small, so any navy would have found it a tight fit.

With the Persian Gulf, the US Navy capital ships usually stay outside it, and bring their firepower down on anyone with it. Usually they send smaller ships in.

The Chinese Navy would be forced to go into the coast in a war with Taiwan, because they want to capture Taiwan. The Taiwanese land forces, and the American Navy from afar, could destroy the Chinese Navy and Army as they tried to get them to Taiwan... Could being the operative word in that sentence... It could turn out that way, or maybe not.

This war is proving NATO weapons technology superior to Russian, even in the hands of Ukranian troops who are not as comprehensibly trained in NATO weapons as professional NATO soldiers are.

I would be cautious in drawing conclusions from the Moskva to modern US Navy warships.
You made the comparison not me. And the article was about aircraft carriers on the high seas.
You do get that hypersonic comes in at Mach 12, at a steep angle (harder to intercept)?
Plus it's manuverable as in that example the carrier could have made 13 nautical miles but the missile could correct in the final flight path

That's the worry. the title is just an eye catcher. There are various ASBM systems described on post 3

Russia has the best missiles in the world
(why China's global hypersonic took everyone by surprise - the tech is likely Russian)

For years I have been warning about driving China and Russia together by sanctions
as well as ignoring Russian stated "red lines". We put Putin in a box with no western ties so he went east

I was unfortunately correct -the new Frankenstein is Russia&China's "ultimate friendship"
(stated at the Olympics)

Anatta is so obviously a Russian troll that it's gotten laughable.
fucking idiot.
The topic is hypersonics/ASBM hitting U.S. carriers

there are now questions about whether America's carrier-based fleet is overly vulnerable to a new generation of Chinese anti-ship ballistic missiles.

Mere months ago you also insinuated it was Russophobia to suggest Putin was preparing to invade Ukraine, so I do not think your powers of prediction when it comes to Russia are very trustworthy.

Russia is on a trajectory to become a pariah state and a third rate economic power of the 21st century.

I find it hard to believe you are clinging to the notion we should cower in fear of the notorious war criminal Vlad Putin, and beg him to please be our friend.

Concart is truly an arsehole however you need to know something about those missiles especially the DF21-D
which is a ballistic missile and renters the atmosphere at Mach 12 resulting in a ionised plasma that prevents any tracking data until it slows down to below Mach 4. That's just basic physics yet you rarely see media hacks even mention it. To my mind this is mostly vapourware and hyped to fuck by the Chinese! It also assumes that commanders on aircraft carriers just sit there doing nothing which is very far from the truth.

If the Chinese have a hypersonic missile that can strike anywhere in the world, and are willing to use it to maximize US casualties, the best place to strike would be NYC. NYC is much larger than an aircraft carrier, and does not move like an aircraft carrier. There are many more people in NYC.

There are lots of free-thinking musicians, artists, poets, environmentalists and pacifists in NYC.

Let's stick to aircraft carriers.

Why does Aegis rarely get mentioned I wonder?

I would point to the USS Mason in the Red Sea back in 2016 as a better example. That destroyer was targeted by several Chinese made HY-2 Silkworm missiles that the destroyer successfully shot down or jammed causing them to miss. While the Ukrainian version of the Kh-35 Neptun (Neptune) is more akin to a US Harpoon and more sophisticated, it doesn't appear that the Moskva took any effective defensive measures to stop these missiles prior to impact. That would indicate that either the ship's systems are markedly inferior, that the crew was poorly trained, or both.

The USS Mason is the greatest war ship in the history of the world!
