"Since when do criminals obey laws" ~ statement debated

"Since when do criminals obey laws"~NRA

Laws aren't made because they think they will have a 100% success rate and they aren't ended because a few criminals break them.

Everyone should have the Right to own a gun but not everyone should own one. I have a right to an education but that doesn't mean I have a right to be a doctor.

Stating that "Since when do criminals obey laws" shows that the Right Wing is leaning more towards Nihilism than Christianity.

(Note;I know they repeat what the corporations say, but they need to learn one way or another)

No it doesn't, it points out that people who own guns illegally now will still own guns illegally if they pass still more laws saying that owning them for those people is illegal. The only people these gun laws control are the law abiding, the people you can trust with them.

a ridiculous attempt to denigrate an organization you disagree with. you have every right to pursue being a doctor. whether you become one or not is wholly up to you, not anyone else.

If we accept the "only criminals obey laws" philosophy, why do we have any laws? Why do we have laws against theft, murder, assault, cheating on taxes, etc?

We have them because a) they script out how we think people should behave - and many people will avoid breaking the law, if it is there and b) because it gives us a way to punish people when they break the law. Without laws, we couldn't punish people when they break them.

b is closer to the truth. a defines to those in society of actions we expect them to avoid because it violates the person of another.

The assumption is that you must control an item rather than make laws against the action of a person. In what way do I violate any of your rights if I exercise mine to simply own and/or bear a weapon? When the laws reach in and attempt to make it difficult for me to exercise that right (such as saying I must travel over 100 miles to a town with a dealer if my Nephew wants to give me a gun for Christmas) it is infringement, and against the constitution. While it may be popular with progressives to believe that such infringement is "nothing" for this right but even showing an ID is an infringement of a non-listed but existing right, it simply shows an obtuse hypocrisy.
