Simple solution to gas shortage. National speed limit to 45 mph. SAVE LIVES TOO

Text Drivers are Killers

Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
Back in 1974 we lowered speed limits to 55 nationally to save gas and it also caused highway fatalities to immediately drop by 9,000 a year. It's a great idea but the auto industry opposes it and they pay the media to brainwash the moron american into thinking he a has the "right" to drive 80 mph. Car crashes mean car sales.

To make the lower speed limits work we would also need much stiffer penalties. And the penalties should vary with the weight of the vehicle. A 3 ton vehicle doing 60 mph uses up more gas and poses a bigger safety risk than a one ton vehicle at the same speed.

The Interstate System is the safest road system in the country, with a fatality rate of 0.8—compared with 1.46 for all roads. Yet that same system has the highest speeds in the nation. There is no correlation between speed and getting into accidents. Yes, if an accident does occur for other reasons--failure to yield and inattention being the leading causes--speed plays a role in the severity of that accident. But speed alone is rarely the cause of an accident.

How about just letting Brandon voters pay $10/gal. and Trump voters go back to the $2.00/gal. we were paying when he left office.

At current highway speeds, it takes me roughly 2 hours to drive to Tucson (~150 miles), about 3 to Flagstaff (~200 miles), and 6 to Los Angeles. If forced to drive 45 mph those times roughly double. That eats into both work time and turn-around time such that those trips become far more expensive because of lodging, loss of work time, etc. 45 mph is insanely stupid as a highway speed.

Write a bill that says anyone that voted for Brandon for President has to pay $100/gal.
That means no one will have to pay $100/gal since no one named Brandon was on the ballot.

You guys are so stupid with your childish name calling. When are you going to grow up and be an adult?

Forget about the amount of time it takes you and instead focus on the COST it takes to fill up your tank.

Oil companies are price-gouging and blaming non-existent inflation as they make billions in record profits.

Prove it

Prove that they're scapegoating inflation while they make record profits?

Companies are pocketing their fattest profits in more than 70 years, even as they complain about inflation

I mean, all these companies are making record profits while blaming inflation for price hikes...but that doesn't square.

It's not inflation causing price hikes, it's greed....price hikes resulting in the highest profits ever????? Must be inflation, can't be greed, right?

I don't think profit necessarily means price gouging.

I think it does in this case because they raised their prices AND got record profits.

You'd think it'd be one or the other, but not both.

I read they import unrefined oil, refine it here and then resell it. That could account for the porfit while still having to deal with inflation here
