Simema leaves Democratic party

Huge mistake on her part because she relied on the AZ Democratic Party infrastructure to win in 2018.

Without that, she has to build an entirely new campaign from scratch with no Democratic funding.

I don't think a single Democrat in AZ would vote for her after this, so the only votes she's going to siphon off will be those self-proclaimed "moderates" from the pervert GOP.

As a practical matter, I don't care if she calls herself a Martian, the important thing is she caucus with the Dems and vote for Biden's judicial nominees.

No one ever expected her to be an advocate for the most liberal goals.

I don't think this story really merits hyperventilating about.

There is no path to Sinema winning re-election in 2024 because she won't have the AZ Dem Party infrastructure and fundraising behind her.

Instead, she will have to build that all entirely from scratch without Democratic money, support, or personnel.

No Democrat is going to vote for her as an Independent after this, so the only votes her 3P candidacy will siphon off will be those pervert GOPers who aren't quite MAGA enough to vote for the whackjob Conservative, but are still fascist enough to not vote for the Democrat.

Well, the two parties have to work that out. But in 2000 and 2018 when there were 50-50 they made an agreement that gave both sides an equal number of all committees, made some procedural changes, and ended the agreement if somebody changed parties, died or retired.

It might not return to 50-50 unless she chooses to caucus with Republicans.
Maybe she gets to determine which party she will caucus with (with their approval).

In 2000 it was 50-50 until Jeffords (VT) changed from R to I and chose to caucus with the Democrats. That switched party control from R to D. Jeffords did not run for reelection in 2006 and was succeeded by Sanders.

The entire AK delegation which included Don Young at the time voted for the infrastructure bill.
That gives funds for the AK Marine Highway and for the much needed gas pipeline which has been a boondoggle here decades for lack of funding.
The bill was definitely in our best interests.

Thats a lie. I have had knock down drag outs with him and disagree with him a ton politically. But I respect him. I respect him because unlike a lot of others he has his OWN opinions and ideas instead of parroting a party line. Thats a sign of intelligence and balls,.....instead of weakness and mental deficiency like yourself. It is GOOD when people think for themselves instead of being told what to think Desh. Something you will never have the ability to understand.

Overwhelmingly, she did it to avoid losing a primary challenge. She's hated in Arizona, with a 37% favorability rating.

This is actually better for the party. She'll split the Republican vote and allow a quality Democrat to take the seat. Either way, she knew she was gone.

She's just laying a foundation for making big bucks between now and her ousting.
