It's ambiguous IMO. Did she mean her father was in the shower with her, or in the room with her when she was taking a shower?

I'm not saying he couldn't have taken a shower with her but if so, she must have been so young they were afraid to let her shower alone.

It set up a powerful memory - i dont think she was so young it didn't effect her.
Her diary is her own "self psychoanalysis" - she's confronting her past behaviors/feelings
