Lol...Watermark, you are one strange young man. I will go ahead and vote turquoise on your poll because, although I am an organ donor, I'm not ready to start executing those who are not. Keep up the good work.

What if you're injured in an accident and your injuries are treatable but they let you die so they can harvest your organs since you're a donor and you're worth more to them dead than alive?

Do they really do that? I ask because I've heard that all my life, but have been involved in the aftermath of many accidents as a volunteer firefighter and have never seen an EMT or first responder check a license.

In a very sad case back earlier in our school year, I get a call that one of our senior girls was in an accident as she was driving from school to the Technology Center about 18 miles away. I drive straight there and she had lost control on gravel and hit a tree. When I arrive the local first responders were doing CPR and had her hooked up to the defibrillator. They worked on her for over 35 minutes and never got a pulse. The EMT's finally arrived, got her in the ambulance and after about 20 minutes they stuck their head out and hollered that they had a pulse and to get a chopper on the way. I knew the girl had to be brain dead but they worked their butts off on her. Short version, she was brain dead but as a result of their efforts her organs went to help so many people. After they left for the chopper I recovered her cell phone and purse with license from the vehicle and gave the license to the highway patrol. The first responders and EMT's had no clue whether that organ donor box had been checked or not. I still struggle with this ... small community and all. I taught her dad, remember when she was born and have her sisters in class now.
