Should Michael Steel Resign?

I've seen no evidence yet to suggest that he should. His job is to win elections for the GOP, and since he hasn't really had any victories or defeats yet, we should wait until the November elections are over before praising or condeming him. Minus a few special elections, nothing has really happened yet under his watch.

What's the issue now? :palm:

He was saying that republicans could question the war now, and it's obama's war and he's open to that criticism. Of course, unconditional hawks left and right are saying he should step down for being anti-war in a time of war. Something like this.

So he's right, per usual.

The guy is an idiot and untrustworthy to boot.

He seriously made the claim that the Afghaninstan war was Obama's choice. That's so fucking stupid it ridiculous. He did a huge amount of damage to his party with that stupid statement. How can you respect a party that keeps an idiot like that as its spokesman?

I think he meant, from the get-go Obama opposed Iraq but he always supported Afghanistan. Thus, as president, we should hold him to a higher standard regarding the war he chose to support than the one he opposed, because Obama was beyond criticism regarding Iraq as of 1/20/2009.

He might have meant that, but he didn't say it well if he did. I think he probably did mean something different from what he actually said; it was a weird statement, and he's generally a fairly intelligent guy. He is rightly getting criticized for it.

But resignation shouldn't be called for here (not that many are really calling for it). He just said something stupid, and that's it.

It wasn't just "something stupid"

It was totally innacurate

I think, unless its something offensive, politicians are generally allowed to slide. VP Biden, the Gaff Master, would have long ago been ousted and put out to pasture, otherwise. Of course, there's still that "clean" reference he made...

Yes, at some point in the future, maybe even the far future, he should resign like all people have before him. Whether it was just a decision not to run again for the position, or direct resignation. Everybody at some point will resign.
