Should states and cities be making a serious effort to stop crime? Right now, many blue states and cities aren't doing that.
So, what Trump is doing is what Democrats refuse to do: Adequately protect the citizens they were elected by from crime and harm. My bet is that outside the effete and clueless radical Left Trump's crackdown on crime will play well with the average citizen.

California - the marines were protecting federal buildings.
Chicago - ICE is doing their job of capturing and detaining people here illegally and, generally speaking, enforcing immigration laws.
It's interesting that you Stalinists didn't mind federal troops stepping in in Mobile, or Little Rock. But the idea of stopping violent crime outrages and petrifies you.
