This is a big issue and why not have an amendment proposed by a two-thirds vote of both Houses of Congress, or have two-thirds of the States request one, by a convention called for that purpose?

The American people may want the Second Amendment voided.

The gunman decides to use the weapon to mass murder.

Ban these mass murderers, many of whom have severe mental problems. Institutionalize these people...oh, wait, the left opposes that.

The will of the people can be determined on a specific issue, just a matter of defining the issue. Have a national referendum on banning sale and possession of all semi automatic guns along with a 21 year old age requirement for purchase and possession of any gun. It would pass overwhelmingly.

No, Marty, a ban on semi-automatic weapons would include nearly all hand guns, long guns and shotguns. Only single shot guns would be allowed.

No such mechanism exists for a national referendum.

If one passes the current Supreme Court would stop it dead in its tracks.

No company would design a weapon for mass murder.

Depends on the wording, it would not have to… But it certainly could. We had a ban on such rifles after it passed during the Clinton years.

Hmm.. It seems you don't know much about guns.

Lever action, pump action and revolvers are not semi-automatic and none of them are considered single shot.

But I suppose you will be telling us that "The Rifleman" proves that a lever action can shoot just as fast as a semi-automatic.

Ask a gun manufacturer if his company is designing weapons for the expressed intent of mass murder.
