Well not completely, radicalization is largely driven when people feel their life has been irrevocably ruined. So economic displacement that creates numbers of new poor can drive radicalization as can a social structure that limits personal development and advancement to an extreme, political displacement, as well as other factors can drive radicalization.
The point being is that Islam per see isn't the problem. Most Islamic radicals are coming from the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Arab peninsula, which is a small percentage of the Mulim population. Why are these regions breeding radicalization is the questio? Islam could very easily be replaced with some nationalist movement or some political ideology in this region cause with the radicals "causes" are easily interchangeable.
As for a solution, well that's my point, a solution, in large measure will consist of defeating ISIS in combat, as well as, determining the root causes of radicalization in this region and defusing them. To that end anti-Islamic rhetoric is counterproductive as to be successful will require the cooperation of our non-radicalized Muslim allies as there are limits to what US power can accomplish here, which is a central lesson we have learned from the Iraq war.
The problem with your theory is it's not entirely wrong: radical ideas are interchangeable to an extent and underlying conditions do play a role in providing fertile ground for them. But the reason radical Islam isn't a localized phenomenon like so many other radicalisms, is because it's derived from a major world religion; and also, because it's objectives are global and not local.
