she stood in front of 15 kids and took the bullets

REALLY? If it was a right to bear arms? Answer me? Why didn't everyone bear arms in the street? As far as I know? Not everyone walked around armed.

If there is a right to vote, why do less than half of those who can exercise that right? It's silly to suggest that because you have the right to do something you "must" do it. If you don't like guns, don't buy one, stop trying to force others to do as you do.

Just a little trivia.
Trivial indeed.

It makes all the sense! If it is a right to bear arms, then guns should be affordable. Even to poor people. What do you think will happen when poor people have guns? The dumb ones turn on each other. Who would the smart ones blame for his/her woes?
Guns are affordable, even to poor people. It isn't "the right" who tries to make it less affordable by adding to the cost for the individual to exercise that right. It is psychotic to wish for the murder of others solely because of their property value.

Desh wants her fellow sociopaths to be able to kill kids without resistance from teachers.

So should the teachers all have open carry in holsters plus machine gun towers all round the perimeter with guard dogs running around between double razor wire fences?

Well, if you want to go the most absurd route for everything why are Brits allowed to have teeth? Why haven't you made a law to remove them all, it will slow down biting others and solve the need for dentistry.

Far easier to have teachers who volunteer for the service to be trained and to carry concealed. Bad guys don't like going into places where they know people can be carrying, this is evinced by the fact that every single instance more than 3 people have been killed by guns in the US it was at a "gun free zone".

Because they know democracy is a sham? Now why wouldn't I want to own a gun, when people I know, including enemies, own them? Unless I couldn't afford it? Also do you know why the Sullivan Law was instituted in the New York? It was enacted so poor immigrants who were prone to commit crime, couldn't carry guns in public.

Maybe it's because most Americans have a criminal record and/or mental illness. It is easy to see from reading the posts of some Americans.lol

I'm not making any wish. Just giving you a possible scenario. :) How do you feel about everyone having the right to bear arms(even at the work place) with that said?

Well, if we lived in a democracy rather than a republic I may agree, but we really don't. Why would you think that using an example of somebody attempting to take away others' rights as a reason to take away rights was even slightly logical? Just more "trivia"?

"Wouldn't it be great" is a wish. Even if you don't like having your psychosis pointed out to you. As for how do I feel about people having the right to bear arms, I'm very happy with it. I'm arguing in support of it now.

I'd leave the crappy teeth jokes to the Cajun Coonass if I were you.

You propose only the absurd, so I only ask if you follow that to its full conclusion in every case. We can all make up absurd scenarios to fit anything we want them to fit.

Arming teachers, from a European perspective, is pretty damned absurd. When Thomas Hamilton shot 16 children in Dunblane, Blair removed the guns. Very draconian and probably over the top but there hasn't been an incidence since then. I know that you can't do that in the US but there are a great many measures that could be taken that are not due to the power of the gun lobby and the NRA.

Right, how many kids were killed at that camp in Europe? No guns there, right?

No sir. In fact I wouldn't teach where they have to have metal detectors. But people shouldn't be sitting ducks for the Lanza's and Holmes's of the world. The only way to prevent the possibility of that happening is to disarm the citizens and I certainly am not in favor of that.

I'm sure that this society's gun laws will one day be more like those of Europe but I do not look forward to that day.

I don't have any delusions of being a hero nor do I think in terms of the old west. This appears to be how Mr. Hoople and he who is wrongly named whose postings aren't worth 2 cents seem to think all CC advocates think. It's not. I have seen death by gunshot up close and personal. I do not wish to ever see it again. I have no intention of attempting to "play the hero" if it can be avoided. But I should not have to be a sitting duck with no means of defense while I am at work.

Just yesterday afternoon and evening I went to Gander Mountain, a local sporting good store called Dunham's, to a movie, then to supper at Cheddars and finally to Kroger to buy the last of the Thanksgiving dinner stuff ... All while carrying a lethal weapon. No one had to know and no one did. If society allows me to pass tests and carry there, then it can let me carry at work as well.

I waited to respond to someone besides Mott because I sometimes tire of his referencing people I respect negatively and that other guy's posts aren't worth a plug nickel much less 2 cents so you were my chosen one today. Sorry. :)

Holy shit Blair gets blamed for a lot but even he is innocent of that one. That Norwegian nutter Anders Breivik got those guns legally in Norway and he sent off mail order for extra magazines from the US.

You said Europe, Tom. Europe.

Not this STUPID answer. It looks like a duck and acts like a duck and quakes like a duck, but in America is called a horse. LOL America keeps on talking about how they are a champion of democracy when according to you, they are not?lol

You still are a democracy! Just a modified democracy so votes can be manipulated! In other words, it's not majority rules, but majority of seats rule. Since you have to elect those members, it's still a type of democracy you moron!!!

Yawn. Your avoiding the point. Is the Sullivan Law constitutional? Do agree with that law? Why was it passed? Should it be repealed? How do you feel about law abiding Muslims carrying semi-automatic weapons?

1/3 of US kids had been arrested.

Therefore your reply is your ok with people bringing arms to the workplace? lol I think the world "going Postal" will have a whole new meaning. if you don't see anything wrong with this, then you lack insight.

Um, no. Some people in America keep saying that, but not all of us.

We are a constitutional republic, by definition in a republic one votes for representatives, in a democracy the majority rules.

What part of my post where I explained you were using as an example people "taking others' rights away" is confusing as to where I stand on that?

First, just being arrested does not a criminal make... Secondly... 1/3 is "most"? In what math class are you and how many times have you failed it?

Actually, the post office was a place (and still is) where one could not bring their weapon to the workplace and is an example of how restrictive rules like that aren't exactly beneficial and only ensure those nutjobs have places to go without fear of somebody shooting back.

Back in the day kids could bring rifles and firearms to school, it was part of the curriculum of most High Schools to have gun safety classes and most had a shooting range. During that time, no school shootings.

It was the advent of the "no gun zone" signs that pretty much began the shooting sprees in schools. Only when people were designated free targets for nutjobs did they start taking advantage of the helpful signage.
