If you are going to try to take this off course, then what is the connection. How do illegal immigrants OPENLY defy our laws? Do they go down to home depot and hold signs that say "illegal immigrant, will work for food and slap your wife if she complains."

Where is the open defiance?

So you don't consider the march's, here in the Phnx, area where they proclaim that they're illegal, as "open derfiance"?

And I guess staying in the US, when they know that they're illegal, isn't "open defiance" either?

Frankly...NO.

Can you point everyone to even one document stating that to participate in one of the various marches for immigration reform the person must be an illegal immigrant?

No, of course you can't.

Again...No it isn't.

If, as you stated, the only criteria for something to be classified as "open defiance" is that the person must KNOW what they are doing is illegal, then we've got instances of "open defiance" going on virtually everywhere at any time.

I smoke marijuana...I know it's currently illegal...am I "openly defiant" of the law if I only smoke within the confines of my own home?

What am I doing?

You haven't had the backbone to respond to a post of mine in MONTHS. Ever since your two dried up old cows you used to call friends left you behind for greener pastures.

They actually claim they are illegal or you just reaching? Do you have to support that claim? The next step would then be for you to show who supported that.

No one is forcing churches, their leaders or congregants to stay silent.

Church leaders are just as free to speak their minds politically as anyone else in this great nation.

But as we've determined many times before, words have consequences, and if churches wish to continue enjoying their preferred status as tax exempt, then they must obey the law.

Government consequences and "obey the law"... That is exactly what the First Amendment protects them from. The government doesn't have the right to try to regulate what they say.

Nor should it.

Tax exemptions should end for all 5013Cs.

So should the deduction for "charitable" donations. If it's really "charitable", the number won't change.

Like I said, I'd go for that. Tax law is overly complicated as it is without adding special classes that don't have to pay and it removes the problem of having the government judge whether your beliefs constitute a religion, and therefore a tax exemption.
