Justice officials said Sessions met with Kislyak on Sept. 8 in his capacity as a member of the armed services panel rather than in his role as a Trump campaign surrogate.

“He was asked during the hearing about communications between Russia and the Trump campaign — not about meetings he took as a senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee,” Flores said.

She added that Sessions last year had more than 25 conversations with foreign ambassadors as a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, including the British, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Indian, Chinese, Canadian, Australian and German ambassadors, in addition to Kislyak.

Christiekins, being hysterical, completely ignores that part and has found him guilty without analyzing all the facts. I really can't stand Sessions and would love for him to have to resign, but this appears to be much ado about nothing.
 
it doesn't matter. russia is not our enemy. would anyone care if he met with england? same thing.

What do you think of that? Seems plausible to me as Franken's question was about Trump's campaign, not him in his official capacity.

It damn well could be. Did you have communications with Russia as part of Trump's campaign? That would be a no. In your official capacity? Then that would be a lie.

People say you're a lawyer and I thought lawyers were good at seeing both sides of an argument and to be leery about such absolute statements as yours above.

I think he said... "I did not have communications with the Russians.”

Had he said, I did not have communications with the Russians as a representative of the Trump campaign, that would not have been a lie. He said something totally different. Just like when Clinton said, "I did not have sex with that woman." He might well have meant vaginal sex, not oral sex.

If Clinton had said, "The question was asking about vaginal sex." would you have said.... oh.. never mind, the question changed the lie into a truth?

He said "I did not have communications with the Russians.” He did not qualify it. You are being ridiculous. Were he telling the truth he would have qualified the statement. The man is a lawyer, he knows better. He was lying, flat out.

Sorry that is a lie, he did have communication with the Russians. It does not matter who he was working for at the time or what he was talking with them about.
