Respecting in that context means making any law that includes even partially an establishment of a religion. The founders did not want the Federal government to have an official religion nor to have the ability to restrict from you a right to practice the religion of your choice, to assemble in congregation or protest, to petition the government, or to restrict your speech...

This is what I read about this from what the founders wrote.

And the SCOTUS has consistently ruled that any gov't recognition of a single religion is unconstitutional.

Its calls itself the National Cathedral.

It was built with private donations, operates using private donations, and doies not receive a single penny of tax money.

No one is suggesting that religious display are illegal on private property.

All churches and religious organizations are tax exempt. Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Hindus, Buddhists, and all the other religions.

The rule fits all religions, and so it is not unconstitutional.

Calling yourself the National Church does not have any real meaning.

It is not connected to any government agency and receives not tax dollars.

Again, no one has suggested that religious displays on private property are unconstitutional.
 
A wall is something that folks can't pass through, yet Presidents and politicians have worshiped there. Funerals of political dignitaries are held there. :eek:

When they are elected they do not abandon their faith. Have the held funerals for any nonchristian dignitaries there?
