And again... I am certainly NOT an expatriot. I have two housekeepers and a gardener and a pool guy, and I pay them all more than any other expatriate that I know.

I am NOT an expatriot... I am an expatriate. Two different things altogether. I am paying them MORE than what they asked for when I hired them. They are all private contractors who work for many different customers. They had a set rate for their services, and I unilaterally raised it by 25% simply because I thought they were worth more than what they were asking for, and because I could. They LOVE working for me!

Just like in the US, when a private contractor offers to do work for you, he has a rate that he sets for his services. I am merely a customer, not their boss or their full time employer. Do you pay your plumber a living wage? Do you pay your electrician a living wage? Don't you expect that they set their fees accordingly and pay them what they ask for? Do you ever bump up the payment YOU make to YOUR plumber or yard guy or electrician, or roofing repair guy 25% more than the amount on their bill?
