Senate GOP rapidly abandoning the Big Lie

Senate GOP rebukes Trump with Electoral Count Act

Eighteen Senate Republican rebuked former President Trump
The act doesn't rebuke Trump.
this week by voting to clarify that the vice president does not have the power to overturn a presidential election as Trump pressured then-Vice President Mike Pence to do on Jan. 6, 2021.
There was no election in 2020. Nothing to overturn.
And several other Republicans, who didn’t vote for the spending package, which included the electoral count reforms, such as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), previously expressed support for changes to the law to make it tougher to object to the Electoral College’s vote.
Neither the Senate nor Pence had authority to choose the electors for any State, which is what they did.
GOP senators ignored Trump’s argument posted on Truth Social, his social media platform, that the 1887 Electoral Count Act should be left the way it is “in case of Fraud.”
Meh.
Republican senators across the political spectrum said they want to slam the door on the notation that Pence had the authority to throw out a state’s slate of electors, which could open the door for future vice presidents to attempt to interfere with the Electoral College’s vote.
Pence did NOT have authority to choose the electors for any State.
“The Electoral Count Act, that statute needed to be fixed and clarified,” Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) said, referring to the 1887 law that Trump tried to exploit by arguing its ambiguity gave Pence an opening to halt the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.

"A couple years ago there were a lot of questions raised about it. There wasn’t any question in my mind about what it said but since there are [questions], I think it’s important to nail that down,” he added.

Thune and other Senate Republicans have called on Trump to drop his unceasing efforts to contest the results of the last presidential election, something they see as futile, divisive and harmful with independent voters.

“We’re one election past 2020 and he still seems to be obsessed with that election. Obviously, I don’t think that’s good for him. It’s certainly not good for anybody else, which is why most of us have decided to move on,” Thune said.

...and typically, you are nothing but a cut and paste idiot.

There was Russian collusion
Fiction. Chanting.
and Trump never proved otherwise.
Negative proof fallacy.
Trump was about as innocent as OJ Simpson was when he was found not guilty.
Association fallacy.
Russians have come out since saying of course they colluded with trump to win the election.
Fiction.
Get with the fucking program and maybe try something other than FOX, this is old news and you just look like an ignorant dumbfuck contesting known fact.
Association fallacy. Bulverism fallacy.

People accused of wrong doing dont need to prove their innocence. Maybe you dont live in America but here the accusers must prove their claim. They either wouldnt or couldnt. What a retarded donkey dick sucking leftist you are

Quite right. Port Tack is attempting yet another negative proof. It is why one is innocent until proven guilty and not the other way around.

Right To Vote: How Republican Lawmakers Used Trump's 'Big Lie' To Restrict Voting

Former President Trump's false claims about voter fraud sparked a movement to restrict voting access.

In the first half of this year (2021), 17 states have passed more than two dozen new laws that restrict access to the vote. Each day this week, we'll be exploring those efforts. Our Right To Vote series begins by looking at how a persistent lie from Donald Trump led Republicans all over the country to push this new wave of legislation.

Typical NPR propaganda. You are just cutting and pasting mindlessly again.

No one is being prevented from voting.

I think you're right about that. Except for Boebert and Greene, I doubt that any federally elected official ever believed in any sort of voter fraud. They used it to appease and milk the MAGAs. And boy was it effective.

MAGA isn't a person. You can't make the evidence of election fraud disappear by trying the 'conspiracy' argument again.
The Democrat party IS a conspiracy.

When you think about what the American voters themselves did, they actually made the right call. The majority or plurality actually rejected Dumbya and Dump.

But the electoral system gives undue influence to the minority.

As to why Trump can consistently command a solid 35 or 40 loyal support , I just think a substantial number of humans gravitate towards authoritarianism. That is true in America, that is also true in Brazil, France, Russia, Italy, etc.

The President is not elected by popular vote. Discard of the Constitution.

The Big Lie's last stand is happening right now out in AZ. The judge there is set to rule on whether there should be a re-vote in Maricopa after Kari Lake's grandstanding & baseless lawsuit.

Not a fan that it's down to one person to decide - but here's hoping he makes the correct decision, and we move on from election deniers & denial one & for all.

The election for governor in AZ faulted due to election fraud by Democrats.

yes. there is a legal case to be made that the number of rules violated for covid exigencies completely invalidates the 2020 election.
