Seattle does not have enough cops to investigate adult sex assaults after ‘defund the police’ cuts: report

Nearly two years after Seattle led the way in defunding the police, the Washington city’s force is so understaffed it did not assign a detective to investigate a single case of a sex assault on an adult last month, according to a report.

The depleted department now only has four detectives in the squad handling sex assaults, nearly all dedicated to child abuse cases, local NPR station KUOW revealed.

I never saw this coming.

You stupid women in Seattle glad you supported the Communist Party?

Just don't get raped they will never find your rapist..its going to be a very very very low on the back burner priority. But in the meantime rest assured he will have more time to rape more

Thank Libs and BLM

The other week I heard the mayor say basically that he was not going to beg cops to come back, that instead he was making a call to duty to come serve the great city of Seattle.

It was pure hubris....it was not the cops who caused this collapse of the force.....it was the leaders and the citizens.

The Seattle Police Department is working to tackle a dramatic increase in crime while dealing with a shortage of hundreds of officers.

Police Chief Adrian Diaz laid out a new 2022 SPD Strategic Plan on Monday to the Seattle City Council Public Safety and Human Services committee.

Part of the plan to recruit more staff includes offering incentives that aren’t provided by other police departments. It includes changes like bringing on emotional support dogs after a critical incident, having mental health providers on contract, and even offering wellness and nutrition assistance.

“I don’t think anyone has seen anything like we’ve seen over the last couple of years,” Diaz said. “We know morale can be low when they’re not appreciated, so we’re spending a lot of time on finding a schedule and shift that gets people the wellness they need,” Diaz said.

The new shift would have officers work four 10-hour days. Diaz says currently, officers are working two or three extra shifts every week.

Gimmicks are not going to solve the problem, appreciating cops will solve the problem, and then it would take at least a decade to rebuild the force which is down 28%, and has lost a lot of the best cops.

Mistakes carry consequences.

Welcome to reality.

That problem is most visible with the Seattle Police Department. The Seattle City Council is currently considering how to address public safety needs with a police department that last reported losing 10 officers in March bringing total separations this year to 43. That leaves deployable staff at just 888, whereas SPD claims that it needs between 1,400 and 1,500 deployable officers to be at full capacity, as the Seattle Police Officers guild told KTTH.

Things are still getting worse......Seattle refuses to tell us how many cops they have hired but it certainly is not 43, and new hires have much less experience then the ones they hire.

Small towns and rural communities are having difficulties recruiting and retaining police officers as well. People just don’t want to be police anymore.

This has been a problem for awhile. This is an article from 2017.

With as evil as power tells us America is why would anyone want to spend their life (to include maybe dying young) protecting it?

See the WOKE never thought their lies through......

Where would you rather be a cop? Shitholes like Chicago and Seattle where the mayor and city councils are openly hostile to police and the D.A.’s don’t bother to prosecute the criminals the cops do nab, or Larned , Kansas that has virtually no violent crime?
