Then in late September to mid-October the DoJ announces raids on half-a-dozen Republican candidates in key races in several states claiming the documents they have show (fill in the blank here with vague charges) they had to raid these people's homes, campaign offices, etc.
The MSM and Democrats start shouting about how those Republicans were involved in (whatever crime they want to claim) and shouldn't be elected.

At the same time, the Jan 6 committee leaks all sorts of stuff they think will damage various Republican races for office.

It isn't that farfetched...

The true professionals from the FBI and DOJ will never announce the details of what was found at MAL but it will be discovered in the record of the court, if they are professional it will not be relieved until after November to reduce the appearance of impropriety.
