Have you heard of Erin Pizzey, who started the world's first women refuge in England in 1971? She had to leave England for 15 years because of death threats from radical feminists. They are currently making a film about her with Kate Winslet.

 
She's awesome. Nothing is more despicable to me than a man who would beat his family. Whomever thought the "rule of thumb" was just dandy was a moron. My daughters will be no slave to a man who tries to control them through violence.

She has very little truck with radical feminists and was subjected to death threats because she had the temerity to have men working in her refuges and boys over 12. Eventually she left the UK and went to the States.

This is both hypocritical and disgusting. There is nothing okay about endorsing the beating of any woman, even one you don't like.

It did raise a subject that I found interesting after looking into it, as I said. I would be interested in seeing any further studies, not just here, and not just as relates to DV. DV stats are not my forte. I have only the most cursory familiarity with them. It's not a subject I wish to pursue. But violence levels ( including DWI deaths) during and following sporting events would be something I'd read more on, if more information is available.

Man, I was looking forward to seeing Destiny's Child perform and right as the show started one girl at the bar yelled at another to shut the hell up (because she wanted to hear Beyonece sing) and it lead to this massive fight between these girls with serious fists being thrown and hair pulling. I ended up right in the middle of it trying to get the two girls to let go of each other's hair. Freaking crazy. Basically missed the performance as a result. Sucked.

Haha, right? Some guy was trying to video tape it to. I yelled at him "hey *sshole, how about trying to help break it up..." These two freaking girls were not letting go of each others hair. I know that could not feel good.

What is wrong with hitting a woman? I mean they want to be treated like men right? They want to fight in combat. So why ot treat em like a man if they want to act like one.

That's disgusting. There's been a long history of subjugation of women and, if furthering that is your idea of cultural progress, you've got more problems than I can address.
