Yes there is a lot of truth in that, that's why they are so desperate to stay in the EU. The Scots were a highly innovative people known all over the world as engineers, be it railways, ships or engines however they have turned into a nation living on its laurels. Very sad but nonetheless true for the most part.

Don't the Acts of Union make England/Wales and Scotland, Great Britain, while the addition of Northern Ireland to Great Britain makes it the UK?
