Scientists accuse Obama over oil spill

Expert claims NOAA is guilty of a 'catastrophic failure'

Tensions between the Obama administration and the scientific community over the gulf oil spill are escalating, with prominent oceanographers accusing the government of failing to conduct an adequate scientific analysis of the damage and of allowing BP to obscure the spill’s true scope.

And the scientists say the administration has been too reluctant to demand an accurate analysis of how many gallons of oil are flowing into the sea from the gushing oil well.

“It seems baffling that we don’t know how much oil is being spilled,” Sylvia Earle, a famed oceanographer, said Wednesday on Capitol Hill. “It seems baffling that we don’t know where the oil is in the water column.”

interesting to see the NYT reporting more potentially negative news on the obama administration...i think they're finally seeing the writing on the wall and realizing their far left reporting isn't reporting or most likely isn't selling...

i'm not sure how culpable obama's admin is in this though...what would be different if we knew how much oil is being spilled? how would that change anything? seems people are and were prepared as best they can for the worst...

I refuse to blame anyone (Bush or Obama) except BP for this disaster. There has to be some governmental oversight but still bad things are going to happen as long as we are dependent on oil.

So just give the administration a pass because "bad things happen"?

Seems you're leaningdumb.

It seems that every time something bad happens during someone's administration, especially since Clinton, the "other side" wants to jump up and point to the sitting president. It's getting old. Nothing is ever going to get accomplished if the two sides continue to act like kids on a school playground and never learn to work together. Magifying article like the one above simply because someone doesn't like the current president does no good and does nothing to get the mess in the Gulf under control. I want these people (democrats & republicans) to grow up.

I blame Greenpeace. Clearly they had someone swim a mile down with merely a snorkel, screw with the piping and valves, the used some C4 and to blow the rig.

The discourse in this country is so warped because it's presented that we have to either choose to worship business unconditionally, or government unconditionally. The truth is there are element of good and evil in both, and they collude with each other in many more instances than most people would prefer to realize to enslave us.

How much campaign money did BP give to Obama? Obama is at least as much to blame as bush was for Katrina!!
Be was a leader in the senate and did nothing. He's had a year and was to dumb or bind to know there was a problem.
