Scalia was an intellectual phony: Can we please stop calling him a brilliant jurist?

Now back to the thread topic... Christie bases her claims that Scalia wasn't brilliant off of some hack professor at CU. Yet those that actually served on the court with Scalia state otherwise. Even his most frequent of opponents.

"Climate change" is a label rightists created to make the reality of global warming sound less threatening. And they accuse us of having created it. Rightists have no shame.

I'm not surprised you'd criticize a teacher, as if teaching isn't an honorable career.

You guys seem pretty threatened by the fact that everybody didn't worship Scalia like you did.

I am not criticizing him for being a teacher. I am saying he is a hack at CU. It was a partial slam at CU itself and its general mindset. That said, he is a hack. The fact that you would hold his opinion above that of a RBG is ridiculous.

Like him or his decisions or not... he was known to be brilliant. Bill Clinton is brilliant, that doesn't mean I like him or everything he did.

Your nonsense about worshiping Scalia is pathetic. It is just yet another way you try to spin away from your own ignorance.

Dear Christiefan915:

Can we please stop calling Scalia an intellectual phony? He was a crooked, corrupt judge.

'Scalia’s practice of slipping away from Washington, unannounced, all expenses paid, to socialize for days in private, intimate settings with selected people who have business either before or affected by the Supreme Court epitomizes how justice in the United States is dispensed. It highlights the role of a social layer that is profoundly hostile to democratic principles and feels itself in no way bound by traditional political methods or legal prescriptions.'

But when even his greatest of opponents on the court say he was brilliant... you side with a nut like Campos over them? Is it because Campos tells you what you want to hear?

I've been criticizing Scalia forever, on this forum and IRL. He was my least-favorite justice. Campos didn't "tell me what I want to hear", he just affirmed what I've always thought of Scalia. And it's good to know there are others out there who don't think he walked on water.

These are YOUR words: "... bases her claims that Scalia wasn't brilliant off of some hack professor at CU." What makes him a "hack professor", SF... that he doesn't think Scalia was brilliant? Or are you just a liar?

RBG loved him as a person, she didn't necessarily love his opinions and the way he stated them. By some accounts she tried to get him to moderate them: "...she urged her friend to tone down his dissenting opinions "because he'll be more effective if he is not so polemical. I'm not always successful."

You're just another in a long line of right-wing hacks who can't stand to see your idol disrespected.

Again you brain dead moron... I was mocking CU and its general dipshit mindset that is common among professors there. You see, I live in Colorado and am pretty familiar with CU.

Shockingly, Christie has been able to figure out that RBG and Scalia didn't 'necessarily love each others opinions'. I mean, in the world of 'NO SHIT' moments... this has to be the best. Captain obvious is jealous of Christie.

What makes Scalia my 'idol'??? The fact that I mocked your ignorance and that of a hack from CU?

Yes... he said exactly what you wanted to hear. Thanks for proving my point and proving you are indeed an idiot.

Your weasel words are noted. And you further confirmed your previous comment disrespecting teachers only this time you included the entire university. How fair of you.

You wrote "The fact that you would hold his opinion above that of a RBG is ridiculous." Both RBG and Campos had issues with Scalia's opinions but you the hypocrite only criticized Campos.

Why are you so vehement about defending him to the point of calling the author a hack, not to mention the insults to me? It's pretty obvious the article brought out strong feelings in you that made you lash out. You and Scalia seem like two peas in a pod, both right-wing extremists and hotheads.

So you once again prove you are a fucking idiot. Thanks. Again... it is not disrespecting teachers in general. Just the idiots at CU. Again... personal experience. I would be willing to bet you do not know any of them personally. I do. Which again furthers the point that you are a fucking idiot.

Again... thanks for proving you are a fucking idiot. I have no problem with people disagreeing with the opinions/decisions/writings of Scalia. None. I am simply saying that taking the hacks opinion on the intelligence of Scalia over that of RBG is moronic. She knew him. But something tells me you are too fucking stupid to comprehend what I just wrote.

LMAO... the author is a fucking hack. I have met him and listened to him lecture... have you? You, again, are quoting his opinion because it confirms what you wish to believe.

And RBG said exactly what you wanted to hear, you simple-minded loser.

RBG was one of his biggest OPPONENTS on the court. She is not the only one who worked with Scalia to makes such comments. Both opponents AND those who agreed with him thought he was one of the brightest to sit on the court. But you found some hack from CU that said what you wanted to hear. Congrats. I am sure Campos knew him well.
