Say his name

Karmelo has been expelled and will not graduate, according to reports... (Btw...is it disrespectful to be in a place where you're not invited? Yes or No )
I can't imagine what his parents are dealing with right now

it can't be easy to accept that your child is guilty of murder. I would give them a little space to process.

same for the father of the deceased. even more so I imagine!

"Touch me and see what happens"...whether it's a split decision or planned long term, is premeditation... He had in mind exactly what he was going to do with the knife he knew he had in his bag...Was his objective to murder? Perhaps not...but....
They're putting this young man in a situation that is not going to be a good outcome... I'm not sure what his parents are thinking by how they're handling this...
Even if he's home with his family, his life is over...he'll always be known for only one thing...

As you may have seen, they are not dealing with this well (understandably so)...and getting horrible advice as to how to proceed...
Did you see who their spokesman is?

a lawyer would laugh at your example of premeditation.

That's probably why my sister became an attorney, and I went into teaching...
It was the heat of the moment but he went into that tent knowing that he was armed...
There's more to this than wanting to duck in out of the rain...
A normal kid, when asked to leave, would have said "I know this isn't my tent...just wanted to hang out a minute until the rain lets up a bit..."
We've got to do better teaching these kids what's normal...
