Abortion to save the life of the mother was legal since 1992 Savita Halappanavar died in 2012. I suspect the reason they didn't do an abortion was she was so unstable she would survive the surgery. But that is just a guess.

Yes some governors said that once R v W is overturned, they will make it a felony for BOTH women and their doctors to have abortions. Also they will make it illegal for pregnant women to cross the state line to get an abortion.
