I'm not a big "spend" guy in general, but I get the value prop in either contributing to college tuition, or making it free of charge. The ROI would be kind of ridiculous & a no brainer. All you have to do is look at the stats for what college grads make over the course of their lives vs. what non-college grads make, and figure out how much tax revenue that equates to.

You'll basically end up saving on tax dollars. It's a smart investment.

That's what Liberals told us about the war on poverty. $22 trillion later we still have poverty at the same percentage as before the money was spent.

It's a no brainer that it's either the responsibility of the kid's parents or the kid himself to fund it.

What you say sounds good but there is no guarantee and that's what you're trying to sell. Either way, it's still not the responsibility of taxpayers to do for a kid what their own parents won't do.

I honestly don't remember liberals making ROI arguments for the war on poverty, but they may have. That was a more generalized governmental philosophy; this is a specific proposal where the measurables are easier to gauge.

I'm not a big Sanders guy, and think his proposals in general would bankrupt us. But the college thing makes sense to me.

You can't predict whether or not something like free tuition would do what you say. Those supporting social welfare programs started by Johnson believed it would help reduce poverty. The percentage in poverty today is the same as it was in 1965. The only difference is $22 trillion considered an investment failed.

You say the war on poverty was more of a generalized philosophy. That is incorrect. It focused on very specific areas Johnson believe pumping money into would reduce poverty.

What makes sense to me is if a kid wants to go to college, let him/her, his/her parents, or any of you that aren't his/her parents that believe it's a good investment pay the bill.

This is another way Bolshevik Bernie can pander to a bunch of freeloaders who believe that if they want something someone else should be forced to fund it for them.


Do you have kids that are or soon will be in college? I find many that support it do.
