You're taking it an extra step there. Your dictionary.com definition was loyalty to country in general. You made it very specific to the military, and that is not supported by your cite. Nor was it Kaepernick's intent, as he has stated.

Douchebag can make up any excuse that he wants, but the actual intent of playing the anthem is well documented, and the meaning of the word "patriotic" is clear. Moreover, the fact that the NFL is hemorrhaging viewers over this, and his coach's excuses, and the NFL commissioner's excuses, is impelling evidence that I am right (as usual).

I think it's hilarious that people believe the NFL's ratings have anything at all to do w/ Kaepernick.

The same reason that most products lose share: the quality is poor.

I'm an avid fan, so it's pretty easy for me to see. Teams simply aren't as good. Coaching is generally poor, and there are fewer great QB's. Some of the games are genuinely hard to watch. The league has also become very top heavy, with most of the same teams dominating for much of the past decade+. The NFL has striven for parity for specifically this reason - to keep all of the other fanbases interested, even as their teams can't seem to break through. But parity keeps eluding them.
