Main reason for the White middle class/working class flight is unregulated mass legal and, in particular illegal Hispanic and Latino immigration. This sent the government benefits and social services (public housing, education, healthcare, etc; through the roof BIG TIME. This , in turn, cranked up tax rates, ushered in a host of expensive government regulation on small business and environmental BS and contributed to the astronomical cost of housing. So, again, that's why millions of middle class Californians have already left the state (for Arizona, Fla, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico) where the cost of living is lower and quality of life is better. And others are flowing out as we speak (it's called "CALEXIT").



What's left is the second tier of the Californian social hierarchy - the poor, homeless, unemployed, minority racial groups - i.e; the "Great "Unwashed, the proletariat, the modern-day"serfs". When you have this dual -layer social structure of a super-rich , plutocratic elite (and their administrative sub-class) as the 10% on top (like the icing on a cake), and all the rest are plebs/oi polloi underneath, then that's the standard social caste structure of a "Third World Country. Mexico is a good example of a Third-World country, or - "a shit-hole country" (as Trump would put it).
