Salvation Army Wants White Donors to Offer “Sincere Apology” for Their Racism

My esposa sleeps late, I usually stop posting when she arises.

Canada and the Scandinavian countries are possibilities. When I was in Switzerland, the hotel had free cake and pastries every afternoon. A good reason to settle there.

I enjoyed my three years in Spain. It's a possibility. Very low cost of living when I was there, a few decades ago.

I spent a year on a small island off the southern tip of Greenland, near the Arctic Circle. Average year round temperature was 0 degrees, saw -60 once. It would take three or more strong men to get me back there.

That's a bit too chilly even for me. Switzerland is lovely. My maternal g-ma was born there. My middle daughter and her husband traveled there three years ago and found the little village where she was born.

Do you have cable/satellite? You might enjoy this program. It features ppl -- usually American but not always -- looking to set up shop in other countries from S. America to Africa to Asia to Europe to Australia to NZ. It's a good way to get an idea of what housing costs are there. They almost always look for homes in larger cities.

Switzerland is a semi-direct democratic federal republic. Since 2011 the leading parties are from the right wing (Swiss People's Party, a right-wing nationalist party). The federal legislative power is vested in the two chambers of the Federal Assembly, the National Council and the Council of States.

Yes, I watch House Hunters International often. It is very interesting and informative.

There is a show on PBS called "Back to the Chalet" ...something like that. A British couple remodeling an old French castle. It's a great show. the wife is the star.

Thanks for the tip. I'll ask Mr. Owl to find that; it sounds right up both of our alleys.

You have failed miserably at understanding what TSA is saying in their document as well as understanding or even recognizing the types of racism that has occurred historically and currently.

The best you can do is a few dozen lolups and an exclamation “You think you live in the 60s!” or the lamest “You live in Idaho!”.

Well, fuck, you haven’t had COVID, so you don’t know shit about it. :rofl2:

I gave you the EASIEST assignment of explaining why certain Southern jurisdictions had new voting restrictions within HOURS after Shelby and you couldn’t even figure that out.

I’ve had my fun with you, moron. Save your lolups for another day, Jethro.

I will accept your surrender and your back-handed, couched in bullshit admission that I have you beaten.

To sit there on your fat, pale, pasty-white Idahick ass and say the only things I have offered are emoticons and a couple of ad homs, is just beyond the pale and yet another example of how sleazy and desperate you are to prop up a flimsy appearance of having been an even moderately formidable opponent to me in this whole thing.

I fully understand what the BS SA document is saying about the different categories of supposed racism that they claim is still such a serious issue that it negatively affects the lives of black people by holding them back from advancement and holds them down on the bottom rung of society.

I happen to disagree with it as to the level of severity and I also do not agree that any negative perception of blacks by not only whites, but by Hispanics and Asians as well, is completely the fault of non-blacks. Black people IMO, continue to put forth a negative image of themselves by their own actions and behaviors and as such, are doing more to hold themselves back than anyone.

The kind of nasty, angry, violent, sexist, misogynistic and pornographic music they produce and listen to, the gangsta looking style in which young black males dress with their baggy shorts below their asses, the types, level and rate of street crimes, gang and drug activity they engage in, etc., etc.

As for the apology issue.... IDGAF to who or how the document suggests white people should apoloigize, the very idea that we owe an apology to anyone simply for being born white and for societal injustices that happened before most of us was born or while we were young children, is abhorrent and absurd.

You go around repenting, lamenting and apologizing for being white all you want to.

And while you're at it, apologize to the enire world for being born who you are and for growing up to be such an idioic douchebag.

Because THAT is the apology you really owe.

"Not all or even most of that welfare spending has gone to blacks. Most of it went to poor whites." You posted no link to prove this.

The Great Depression has no relevance to the LBJ's War on poverty. They were decades apart. The Great Depression was a one off and the War on Poverty was generational.

The effect was the same.

Mass poverty is mass poverty and the kind of poverty that was experienced by people of all races during The Depression was of the real, genuine and lethal kind, as opposed to the merely uncomfortable kind that passes for poverty in today's world.

And the fact that poverty today is merely uncomfortable rather than lethal, is thanks to the war on poverty that began under LBJ in the 1960's.

If those policies had never existed or had been abolished at some point, we would be seeing people dying from starvation in this country rather than just not living at he same standards as working and middle class people.

"Rather than looking at what those welfare dollars have NOT accomplished in terms of "ending poverty"... (which I do not think was ever the goal to begin with..."

"Johnson Promotes His Great Society Programs, Seeking to “encourage an increase in anti-poverty efforts.” The Great Society was a set of domestic programs promoted by President Johnson in the 1960s. Two main goals of the Great Society social reforms were the ***elimination of poverty*** and racial injustice.Dec 31, 1969"
Wikipedia

C'mon. It's Wikipedia. Anyone can put anything they want to in there.

I notice a couple of things about your quote. 1) you didn't include a link. I looked at the Wiki page and did not find anything that matched what you quoted and 2) the quote is dated 12/31/1969, a good five years after the legislation, which leads me to believe that whoever said what you quoted might not have been LBJ himself.

But all that aside.... when LBJ initially proposed and Congress passed into law his war on poverty, what was considered poverty back then was more like what I described above.... starving and living in the most primitive conditions imaginable. No heat, no running water or indoor plumbing of any kind, literally rags for clothing, etc. Those are the conditions which defined poverty in those days and looking around us today, one can honestly say that poverty... as defined back in the era when the programs were created... has in fact been eliminated.

Tofay's definition of poverty is nothing cloise to what the definition of poverty in 1964 was.

"Certainly one can look at anything from only a negative perspective and call it a failure." The Civil Rights Laws can not be called a failure.

I certainly would not call them a failure and maybe you wouldn't either.

But there are plenty of people on the extremist far right who do.

Which was pretty much my point.

Anything can be viewed from any perspective one wishes to view it from.

Who said anything about curing racism, you fucking illiterate. The document is “Let’s Talk About Racism”.

I have no feeling toward that document at all. I’m an atheist and don’t need to lament nor repent. I’m merely laughing at your fucking meltdown about its contents.

I see you failed to grasp that WWII analogy.

I’m not telling you shit about how you should or should not relate to anybody, you racist punk. That’s up to you.

However, that you fail to recognize one thing that the SA document DOES try to discuss is the systemic racism still present in this country. I even gave you examples, numerous examples, from my lifetime, experienced by many my age and younger. And the best you can do is squawk “You think this is still the 60s!” That you think the virulent racism that was present in the last half of the 20th century has magically disappeared is just fucking pathetic. Ignorantly pathetic.

WHOOSH, motherfucker. The point I was making totally escaped you.

Bet all you want, Jethro. So far, you’re Oh-for and melting down more with every post.

It’s damn funny to watch.

Good times, you two were very entertaining!

Closed minds, Prima. They will not admit what is directly in front of them...hence, black is white.

Nothing will change their minds but the guests need to hear the truth...the truth will stand til the end of time.
