Safe distances from the center of an atomic bomb strike

Somewhere there's a pole waiting for your racist prick head.

I have no idea what you are babbling about half the time including this one. Is it because your country doesn't allow women to go to school, Ms. Moon?

Dude I missed this gem. I bet you'd love this one. Just pinpoint a place and see how much it affects the population.

It would be bad no matter where it went off.

BTW, I think the jumping girl photo might be fake: https://home.hiwaay.net/~slone/ishadow.html

That one with the (apparently) jumping girl is REALLY creepy to me.

Poor thing.
She never even had a chance at a full life through no fault of her own.
Regardless if the photo was faked or not, the fact remains a lot of people died that day. War is bad and only to be used as a last resort.

It was a little too clear since the girl was in motion. The man on the step is a bit blurry and he was sitting relatively still.

Exactly, What I think is they made that picture to send a message. It's a fact that the children were playing right before they were vaporized.

If the people are vaporized, so would parts of the building. More likely there was the flash that burned into the concrete then the blast wave which would blow the body away from Ground Zero.

Right. There is a zone (a radius) where the people are vaporized and the "shadows" are cast, leaving the building intact.

An atomic bomb strike on DC would be the best thing for the survival of the world as a whole.

We have seen different effects radiation were on people. (See those Japanese men, women and children quite a distance away)

In the simulation below, LA's historic center is directly within the fireball, so everyone there would likely be killed.

If a fireball were to hit the city's Mission District, the Golden Gate Bridge would remain standing.

throw in New York and it may be worth it.....

If I am in a city about to be hit by a nuke?
I am not scurrying out of town...desperately getting caught up in the traffic jam to end all traffic jams.
I am heading for ground zero with a six pack.
Sit back on a chair, crack open a few, (probably in relative piece and quiet while the rest of humanity acts like a bunch of screaming nutcases) turn on some Pearl Jam and wait for the end.

If it is between getting a fatal dose of radiation and dying an INCREDIBLY, painful death?
Or getting instantly incinerated?
I'll take the latter any day.

And I think the world sucks pretty badly now - with exceptions.
Why on Earth would I want to live in one after a nuclear war?
Pass.

Mind if I bring my scotch?
