S is for Shank: ‘Sesame Street’ to teach kids about when Mommy Or Daddy Goes To Jail

Tinfoil, were you also upset when Mr. Rogers helped kids of divorced parents understand it wasn't their fault their parents divorced? was that telling them it was "normal" to get divorced?

No, it's not telling them being in jail is normal.

Yes, it is. You might want to ignore it, but it is normalizing the situation.

And for the last time, idiots, the criticism is with the writers at the show, not the children.

I am happy to have my kids hang out with kids who have a parent in jail. If the kid is a good kid, I don't judge based on who/what their parents are.
Jarod! That's because you're a lawyer. Hell most the people you know, including most of your colleagues, have been to jail!!!! ;)

Also, these are not the same thing. Equating punishment with a legal process shows how little you understand what the issue is about.

Tinfoil,

What about helping kids who's parents have cancer? Does it teach them its okay to smoke cigarettes.

LOL

Great parenting instincts

Tinfoil,

Seriously why do you want to punish kids just because their parents are in jail. Its not the kids fault!

I'm talking about messages children get from watching TV shows. How many times does it take to get it through your thick skull? I'm not agaisnt helping unfortunate kids. I just think the message to other kids is that it's not a big deal that someone's parents are in jail.

Would you want your kids hanging around a kid whose parents do drugs? Doesn't mean the kid does drugs, but I bet you wouldn't want your kid hanging around with such a kid because you worry they might be influenced by the bad parent.

How about a racist parent? Would you want your kid hanging around the child of a racist?

How about the child of a member of the tea party?

Trying to put in terms you liberals can understand

You're an idiot. I can't be more clear about it. You are just too damn stupid to comprehend what I wrote. Not suprising. You can't even spell simple words. I never expected you to get it. But you should stop misrepresenting my position, troll.

Dude....you're making illogical leaps that no one is making. They're just telling the poor crumb snatchers that they aint guilty of the sins of their fathers (well....unless they're Irish of course.). You're just blowing this out of proportion!

I don't think it's illogical. I explained why. Half of the characters in the skit had parents in jail. To a young mind that might seem like it's normal. It would not be illogical for a child to interpret it as such.

I'm done with this topic.
I hope your kids hang out with the worst kids in their school. It'll serve you right

If they were good kids I would allow my kids to hang out with all of those kids, I would not allow them to go inside the drug parents home, but spend time with the kids.... absolutely.

LOL No offense Jarod but when I think of you as a lawyer I can't help but picturing Saul Goodman with a spelling impediment. ;)

Better Call Saul!

HE really is one of my fav. current television characters. I know some people who are a lot like him, except they are not brave enough to get in as deeply as Saul does.

I just don't understand why you hate these kids!
