Yeah- the gas for the field canteen stoves didn't show. They had to eat cold chow.

To borrow from ' The Dirty Dozen '- they've ALWAYS eaten cold chow.

Haw, haw......................................haw.

your armor is completely trashed, your artillery is about to taste 1000's of Switchblade drones, your troops are demoralized and most don't even know why they're there, your supply lines are almost non-existent, your leader is hiding in the Kremlin firing his staff and hiring more food tasters......comrade, you've been had

it's not nice to fuck with the US and NATO militaries...........they can fuck you up and not even be there

I read all these claims from the pro-Putin's and the pro-Ukrainians. The claims are often contradictory. I do not know what is true and neither do you. We are watching this from afar. Putin's war is a messy business that is hidden in the fog of war. He is responsible for the slaughter of Ukraine citizens and the life that gets in the way of his bombs. It is barbaric. But I do not know if it is successful.

I think we do know, and we have footage to back it all up, see OP

the Ukrainians aren't Russians....they don't fabricate evidence talk shit like Putin

it's most likely far worse for them than we know at this point, not better

my favorite part in the OP:

...there were around 1,200 tanks in Ukraine, and around 1,600 in the entire Russian army. Of course, Russia likely has potentially tens of thousands of Soviet-era tanks in storage, but good luck getting that stuff working mechanically. Not to mention, they don’t seemingly have the crews for them anyway. Conscripts don’t learn to drive tanks. They are given 1950s-era rifles and thrown into the meat grinder.

1600 tanks? are you kidding me?

the US could destroy every last one by lunchtime and not lose a single pilot......fuckin clowns

If we can get the vast majority of Ukrainians out of the country, harbor them in EU countries and the US, Ukraine will be rebuilt BETTER with Western relief funds, something like the Marshall Plan after WWII.....they've been stuck with crappy Soviet Era Infrastructure and concrete apartment blocks since the late 40's

And they will be proud members of NATO, if not part of a larger alliance of all the world's democracies, allied against Russian AND Chinese aggression whenever it rears its ugly head

As of Thursday night:

Remember, these are only visually confirmed kills, so they are most definitely an undercount. Yet even that number presents a bleak picture for Russia. There were around 120 Russian BTGs at the start of the invasion around Ukraine, and reportedly 160 BTGs army wide. We’ve already looked at the problems with Russia’s BTGs, but for now, let’s just look at how it’s constructed:

Each BTG has approximately 600–800 officers and soldiers, of whom roughly 200 are infantrymen, equipped with vehicles typically including roughly 10 tanks and 40 infantry fighting vehicles [...]

That means there were around 1,200 tanks in Ukraine, and around 1,600 in the entire Russian army.

Oryx counts 240 Russian tanks destroyed, captured, or abandoned. That is a very neat, nicely rounded 20% of Russia’s in-theater supply. Gone. Of the 4,800 infantry fighting vehicles, Russia has lost at least 449, approaching 10% of the total. And again, this is the floor, as not every battle, every loss, is video recorded, and not everything recorded makes it online.

Furthermore, remember that destroying a BTG doesn’t mean killing everyone in it.

[D]estruction of 60 [of its 600-800 soldiers] and 15 [of its 50 vehicles] will force a BTG to withdraw and reconstitute.

A few days ago, Ukrainian general staff had claimed over 30 Russian BTGs had been forced to withdraw to reconstitute, which is 100% plausible, given that nearly 700 tanks and APCs have been confirmed destroyed.

Russia’s saving grace has been its artillery, which by virtue of sitting behind the front lines, has suffered fewer confirmed losses than those spearhead infantry and tank units. Oryx counts just around 100 destroyed pieces of artillery. Ukraine just hasn’t had the capabilities to strike behind enemy lines, and it has given Russia free reign to conduct its heinous campaign of terror against urban civilians. And no, a no-fly-zone or Mig-29s wouldn’t be of any use dealing with this critical task. But you know what are? Those Switchblade killer suicide drones on their way from the United States to Ukraine. As Mark Sumner wrote yesterday, Ukraine will now have 1,000 new killer drones to deploy against the scourge of Russian artillery. It’s certainly what the Pentagon is expecting, as last night’s background briefing confirms:

Given how effective anti-tank missiles have proven against Russian armor and mechanized infantry, Ukraine is free to use the drones against artillery positions and their command-and-control and supply lines. If the steady supply of Javelins is any indication, those first 1,000 Switchblades are just the start, as replenishments get put on auto-delivery.

Take Russia’s artillery away, and what’s left? Two dozen cruise missiles fired daily from across the border, of which they’re likely running low anyway? Russia will always have the tools to murder, but take away their artillery, and there goes about 95% of that capability, while Javelins, NLAWs, and brave Ukrainian defenders take care of the rest of Russia’s war machine.

How far the mighty have fallen. The Russians who died defending Stalingrad against the Nazis have more in common with the Ukrainians than Putin's Army.

700 tanks and APCs is a lot of destroyed transportation....which often creates roadblocks. A bonus for the Ukrainians to have a burning Russian tank blocking the rest of the column. LOL

Looking forward to the Switchblades going into action. Hopefully there'll be some great Youtube videos of Russians eating American technology. LOL

I see conflicting reports and opinions. I am waiting for more. Have you seen the blown up buildings in Ukraine cities and the people leaving by the millions? That is not victory.

You call losing less than 5% of their armored vehicles as 'catastrophic'?

240 out of 1,200 is 20%. That is more than 5%.

Decimate literally means losing one in ten. If a force is literally decimated, they have lost 10% of their force. So Russia has been double decimated, which I for one call a catastrophe, if it is accurate. We do not know for sure.

Something is definitely going wrong for Putin. It is taking his tanks 3 weeks to go less than 100 miles. He has lost 4 major generals. He is unable to take out the Ukrainian leadership. Finally, he does not control the air space above Ukraine. We have seen victory, and this is not it.

And worse weapons are coming. The world is seeing the only thing worse than naked aggression... Naked, incompetent, aggression. This has been a mistake for Putin.

Russian strength is looking like a joke. Putin should have been more careful about risking his reputation of invincibility... But he still has nuclear weapons. No one will risk that.

I agree his nukes are a big problem, especially since he's clearly delusional and looks to be getting worse

but I think the free world really must take a chance here and back democratic countries wherever they are , if his aggression is not nipped in the bud he will ramp it up until there really is no other choice. he's every bit as evil and dangerous as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao and the rest of them

A month ago, Russia was borderline a superpower. Today, it is looking like North Korea. Putin still can threaten the world with nukes, but he has failed badly.

of course it's not victory for Ukraine's civilians, definitely not inferring it is

but so far it's been a historic victory for the Ukrainian military. they are doing the entire world a HUGE service by demonstrating that that big bad Russian bear is an illusion, the
laughing stock of major military powers everywhere (and a relief)
