Russian gas exports plummet 45%

I think it's kinda cute how Putin deployed his boat with its scary missiles to patrol the planet the other day, don't you?

Navies are yesterday. Unmissable targets. Putin could sink any US/NATO vessel at will- and vice versa. ' Defense' from hypersonic missiles is delusional.

Ah............

Could Turkey block Russian warships?
Russia's location on the Black Sea complicates the situation.

Article 19 of the treaty contains an exception for the countries on the Black Sea that can effectively undermine Turkey’s power in blocking the Russian warships entering or exiting the Black Sea: "Vessels of war belonging to belligerent powers, whether they are Black Sea Powers or not, which have become separated from their bases, may return thereto," it says.

That means Turkey cannot prevent warships from returning to their original bases through the passage.

For example, a Russian fleet registered in the Black Sea but currently located in the Mediterranean Sea is allowed to pass through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits and return to its base. The condition also applies to Russian fleets currently in the Black Sea that belong to a base in the Mediterranean or Baltic sea: Russia is free to move them out of the Black Sea.

Because he got about as much mileage out of the nuke threats as he could.

I'm waiting to see reports of that little boat being blown out of the water

Ah............

Well duh.

Severnaya Verf Shipyard is the base of origin. Nope, it's part of the Northern Fleet. Never been in the Black Sea, AFAIK. Maybe so, but not it's base of origin.
Anyway, why would Putin deploy it on a world tour and not use it or even mention its use in the Black Sea where it's needed militarily?
Do your homework, comrade.

There's not a single economist or Finance Minister on the planet who ever blurted out the thought:

"I have a great idea! Let's shut ourselves out of the European and North American markets!"
Clearly, he never thought this through. If he took over Ukraine, he would have controlled grain/energy markets but I'm not sure how the blowback would have affected him.

I read the other day that he might have been on thyroid meds that seriously affected his ability to reason. This was just before the invasion, and aggression is a side effect as well.

This has yet to be verified 100%, and it came from Danish intel.

I don't ever see things getting back to normal with the West after the unprovoked attack on Ukraine by Russia?!! When this war ends, there will be a matter of war crimes and war reparations too?!! If Putin is ousted and not killed, they should turn him over to the Hague for crimes against humanity?!!

I think we are on the brink of a revolution in Russia- AND IRAN! It is just a matter of time now.

What's going on in both countries will be tough to watch, like watching Frogs Boil for a while longer yet, until it just boils over and puts it's own fire out.

Evil never wins in the end.

I think Vlad has surrounded himself with so many Yes men, he actually believed he would be welcomed as a liberator in Ukraine and any resistance would collapse so rapidly there wouldn't be time for the West to react in any substantive way.

Which is why those Russian sailors are essentially on holiday. Unless they launch one of their indefensible missiles. Then it's suicide. '

So is defending a frigate in the Atlantic or the Mediterranean. The weather should be nice in the Maldives or Seychelles. Hope they brought along their snorkeling gear.

I call that arrogant swill.

Haw, haw..................................haw.

It seems that your Turkish restrictions don't practically apply to Russian vessels- and even if they did it is unlikely that the Turks would rat out their neighbors for..........who ? Klepto Joe ? The US isn't going to try to pressure a massive source of NATO military firepower and risk Turkey's exit for the sake of a puppet comedian in Ukraine who has already lost 20% of his country- permanently- allowed most of the rest of it to be demolished and nearly all of it without the basic utilities for civilization.

Still- have it your way.

You must consider Vlad to be the most incompetent military commander in chief in history.. deploying his most feared weapon during wartime to a world cruise rather than use it where it's needed.

Yuk yuk. Pffft! *burp*

Yes. Not unlike Rumsfeld/Cheney.

Having screwed up the invasion, I'm trying to understand why Putin seems to enjoy killing women and children.

It will take time to set up infrastructure to send gas that was to go to Europe to other places, but it well likely happen.

Putin's problem is time is not on his side. Over the next couple of years, the technology to get gas and oil out of the ground will start to break, and will not be able to be replaced from the West. The Chinese are questioning whether they should invest in expensive pipelines from Russia, when by the time the pipelines are done, there might be nothing to go in them.

And with all the corruption in Russia...
