It is threatening Putin's existence.
The death numbers being touted are never trustworthy during the fog of war. Nor are the stories about who is winning. Who wins a war? If Putin goes back to Russia, Ukraine has a terrible mess to fix. The hate for Russia will be permanent. They will go to the west. If Russia gets some of Ukraine's land, it will have a terrible time protecting it from those who do not want to be part of Russia.

You surely know that it is the aim of the US to eliminate Russia as a military threat. US foreign policies have been insane for years. The advance of NATO is part of that strategy.

Besides, why not? They are a military threat to former Soviet republics FFS!
The U.S. and NATO are no “existential threat “ to Russia.

I think he has more Russian support than we want to believe. Russia is weirdly proud of their ability to absorb huge numbers of dead during a war, and some of the folks in Russia that I know make it very clear they believe that Ukraine is actually a fascist threat. I thought they were just afraid of giving their opinion at first, but I no longer believe that they are. Don't get me wrong, this is probably the least popular war there since Afghanistan, but it still has more support than not.

You are forgetting that a lot of Russians fled Russia to avoid the draft, and also a recruiting center got bombed, and after that Putin said that the 300K men that he had was sufficient, so how much support Russia really has for the war is very questionable.
