Russia shut out permanently from world energy markets

Putin gets more NATO expansion for his troubles
we get a military and strategic bond between Russia and China that we misplayed into
Ukraine loses "transit fees" and gets pulverized
Western Europe gets more expensive energy sources as supplies are imported by tanker instead of pipeleine
Great Northern Sea is a long term soluton
more pipelines under construction between Russia and China'
If Australia shifts to Europe, more LNG tankers even if is goes around the Horn from Russia

It's a yuge reshuffling of the deck- everyone loses
We send more money to Ukraine to make up for transit fee loses
China will politely play along with Vlad when it suits their own interests, but they are not going to risk their economic ties to North America, Europe, Australia.

Biden, NATO, EU, and our Pacific-Asian allies are going to make Putin's Russia a politically and economically isolated Rogue State, a pariah that won't be able to do business with the West for decades, or at least as long as Vlad is around.

I don't take pleasure in saying that. The actions of the notorious war criminal Vlad Putin are going to hurt the interests and welfare of innocent people in Russia who don't deserve it..

Russia has been sanctioned by the west so badlly it doesn't have any economic ties except energy
China will buy all it can etc
By shoving Russia into the Sino orbit and further embargoing Russian extractives
just makes China and Russia a super state against us
Europe only has NATO to worry about -Europe isn't going to help us in the Pacific
we war aganst Russia makes us weaker financially, and some of our advanced weaponry is low inventory

Europe doesnt GAF about Chinese hegemony -bu we are supposd to GAF about a Ukraine Russia war that has absolutely nothing in our strategic interest If Russia swallowed Ukraine it wouldn't matter to the USA

I understand that after years of trumpeting the glory of Vladimir Putin, this is hard for you to accept.

Putin has made a strategic blunder of the first order, and Biden and allies have boxed him in.

This is the second century in a row Russia has taken the path to disaster because hubris led them to wage war on a smaller foe they were overconfident they could easily dispatch.

The Russo-Japanese War and the Russo-Ukrainian war were historic miscalculations that will have detrimental repercussions that echo for decades

Russia will likely be shut out permanently from global energy markets, top oil execs say

Top execs from Chevron and Woodside Petroleum predicted Russia will be cut off from global energy markets.

Once the EU weans off Russian supplies, Moscow is unlikely to be able to participate again, they said.

"The move has not been an energy move, it's been a social move as people have recognized the destructive nature of the conflict."

The Europeans post-World War II thought there would never be war on European soil again," she said. "I think what has happened is so shocking for them that I think they will not be lulled into complacency.

The comments come as the EU edges closer to a phased-in embargo of Russian oil, which the US has already banned. European countries are also looking to reduce their reliance on Russian natural gas by sourcing it from elsewhere.

Europe isn't the only market that can turn to alternatives to Russian energy. Liquefied natural gas producers in Australia, O'Neill added, can help fill demand in Asia once Russia is eventually out of the trade loop.

The world won't allow Russia to return to global markets unless President Putin has a "change of heart," which is unlikely, according to Kory Judd, director of operations for Chevron's Australian business.

Putin’s grand scheme has failed.

The geographic location of Russia's gas resources make it exceedingly difficult to pipe it across the Eurasian landmass to get to Chinese markets. Russia's gas transportation infrastructure is almost entirely constructed to serve Europe.
It will take years to build pipelines to those two countries.

It will take years to build pipelines to those two countries.

A monumental engineering feat and even then the capacity to pipe gas to China will only replace about half of the European market

Compounding matters, is putting all your eggs in one basket. It's a terrible business decision to only have one major customer (China) to buy your product, as opposed to being diversified. China is going to do what's in China's best interest, and those interests may change over the years.

Destroying economic ties between the EU and Russia was ' Biden's ' intent from the outset.
What he didn't take into account was the hardship that would be inflicted upon the EU and the blowback that will manifest once the Europeans become informed as to whose fault this war really is.

Too bad they couldn't source natural gas from the US because Biden cut production.

I had a brainfart about this the other day: What if China is goading this thing along in order to get a greater hold on Russia?

Lol you can't even get Germany and Italy to stop buying Russian oil and gas while the US is expected to foot a $40 billion bill to defend the Ukraine (for only 5 months BTW) as the rest of NATO contributes nothing and is actually funding the Russian war machine, so tell me how are they getting shut out?

The EU has no intent whatsoever on "weaning off of Russian supplies," their entire economy is bases on cheap Russian energy and they say that abandoning that model will create social unrest which means they want to continue living fat and happy under the US defense blanket while enjoying cheap energy. What a joke.

You probably also laughed in disbelief when Biden & Co. warned Putin was preparing to invade Ukraine, so I am betting your ability to make predictions is less than mediocre and subpar.

Russia is a threat to the EU not the US, it was the EU and NATO begging for American action and American money and weapons as always, Biden as incompetent as he is didn't invade the Ukraine, Putin is the aggressor but it is the responsibility of Europe to aid in their own defense.

I suspect that Putin believed that he could continue to sell his oil to Europe even while ravaging one of the nations there. Guess he miscalculated our capacity for change, and our outrage as well.
