Russia orders retreat from Kherson

The milblog analysts I follow predicted two months ago Kherson would be retaken from the invaders, which really raises their credibility in my eyes.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday it was withdrawing its forces over the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine’s Kherson region, abandoning the only Ukrainian regional capital to have been captured since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, November 9

The Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Kherson direction since August—a coordinated interdiction campaign to force Russian forces to withdraw across the Dnipro without necessitating major Ukrainian ground offensives—has likely succeeded. As ISW has observed over the previous months, Ukrainian forces engaged in a purposeful and well-executed campaign to target Russian concentration areas, military assets, and logistics nodes throughout Kherson Oblast to make continued Russian positions on the west bank untenable without having to conduct large-scale and costly ground maneuvers to liberate territory. Ukrainian troops launched constant attacks on bridges across the Dnipro River and targeted supply centers and ammunition depots on the east bank of the Dnipro that degraded the ability of Russian forces to supply the grouping on the west bank; Ukrainian forces combined these strikes with prudent and successful ground attacks on key locations such as Davydiv Brid. This campaign has come to fruition.

Russian forces cannot supply their grouping in Kherson City and the surrounding areas due to Ukrainian strikes on critical Russian supply lines to the west bank. Russian sources noted that the withdrawal is a natural consequence of targeted and systematic Ukrainian strikes that cost the Russian grouping on the west bank its major supply arteries, which gradually attritted their overall strength and capabilities.

No water, power or internet -- only euphoria in newly liberated Kherson

Kherson, Ukraine(CNN) For eight months, residents of the Ukrainian city of Kherson have been living under brutal Russian occupation. But on Friday, Ukrainian forces swept into the city and Russian troops retreated to the east.

The residents have no water, no internet connection and little power. But as a CNN crew entered the city on Saturday, the mood was euphoric.

As the crew filmed live in Kherson's central square, some sang the national anthem while others shouted "Slava Ukrayini!" -- glory to Ukraine, a patriotic greeting.

There were morons on this board who bellowed Vlad would use tactical nukes in defense of Russian territory.

Putin claimed Kherson was sovereign territory of the Russian Federation after the September annexation. But Vlad just meekly ordered his forces retreat from the only major regional city they captured in the last 8 months

Certainly seems like if it weren’t for possessing nuclear weapons Russia’s military would be second rate at best, not the super power it once might have been

They do, however, have more nuclear weapons and delivery systems than anybody else- and would, of course, use them. That's really the only ' superpower 'requirement.

Liberation of Kherson Provokes Joy

Photos and videos emerging from Kherson and the surrounding region showed Ukrainian flags being raised over administrative buildings, cars sounding their horns, pro-Russian posters being torn down and locals welcoming the arriving soldiers. Several people were seen weeping with joy.

Soon the Ukrainian Army will be all but destroyed.

Ukrainian army- leaderless, deserting, unsupported .

Russia has fewer targets for the US and other NATO nations to hit. One Trident sub could take out every major Russian city. Ultimately no one wins so no one wants to be the first to start a nuclear war.

Russian silos are not in cities, dumbass- and every sub location is known and plotted.

The way NOT to start a nuclear war between Russia/China/N.Korea/Pakistan and NATO is not to respond to Russia's tactical nukes in Ukraine.

What tactical nukes are you referring to? China has already warned Russia to lay off any talk about using nuclear weapons. Putin is smart enough to know that any use of a nuclear devise would mean the complete destruction of Russia.

Sure China/N.Korea/Pakistan will not be coming to rescue Russia's rescue

You're surely aware that any nuclear attack on Russia would result in the annihilation of the USA . Maybe you don't think so ? I hope there are no generals of like mindset.

So then, why would the Russians be the first to use a nuclear device of any kind?
They are losing this war, and nothing will change that fact!
