Rush Lies? A challenge for Rushbots

To continue...the legislation about this counseling could have been "misinterpreted and implemented incorrectly." That was the danger....and thus the complaint...

There are social workers in the hospitals now that 'counsel' patients and their families about "living wills" and hospice care right now, with no one, that I know complaining about the service....its voluntary and offered at patients admission when possible.... ....they would not speak to a suffering patient without the family present unless absolutely necessary.....and then only if the patient could make an informed decision about matters.....if the government wants to pay for this now free service, why not...but legislation must be carefully worded so absolutely no confusion could take place....

bottom line: it is about compassion...NOTHING in any legislation being considered would force families to pull the plug on grandma. there are no such things as "death panels".... but the right doesn't care about whether the term "death panel " is accurate.... it resonates, and right or wrong, they will continue to use it. despicable.

I don't think there is anything more hilarious than the right-wing misinterpretation, paranoia and fear-mongering about the concept of "end-of-life planning."

It's a new level of ignorance & silliness, from a group I thought had pretty well mastered ignorance & silliness.

Fuck you shit eater.

They won't have to "pull the plug". The government will just deny care.

Its not about 'force'....its about undue influence of the elderly when they are at the mercy of some painful sickness and may not be in a position to make an informed decision.....it should not be the government educating the patient....
Thats why these "social workers" that now provide the service are not seen as having their own agendas....while a government employee may not be viewed that way....for the government to pay the bill is one thing, to send their own employees is different....
there are two side to every argument....

At a minimum, its trying to influence the sick and old when they are vulnerable, depressed, sick and probably in pain;... to voluntarily accept killing themselves, with a little help from Obamabots to save money, .....You got it, money over life....ahhh, the compassion of the Democrats know no bounds....they are as deceitful and fuckin' sick as ever to defend this despicable bullshit.....

Bravo, you need a new pair of reading glasses, yours are adding words to the page, maybe it is the egg crud you got on there three days ago, go wipe them clean and start again!

Please try to keep up with the news. :BKick:

Perhaps you saw in the news how that provision was originally sponsored in the senate version by a Republican.

It's the most reasonable thing in the world until illiterate mouth breathers get their hands on it.

You need to understand that legislation has consequences which may be unstated in the bill itself. When you try to cut costs through price fixing, rationing is the result. Learn to think.

the bill does not suggest that government employees will provide any of that counselling.

This "death panels" bullshit is pure and simple scaremongering just as the dems did during the Social Security debate. It is being purposely obtuse and pretending to just be "scared for grandma".

Yet somehow it was "taken out". How can they take out something that's not there?

Like you, no thanks...

It tends to remind me of Patsy Schroeder and her, "They're coming for your children!" speech.

However, it is not illogical to suggest that government rationing may take place, it has to. At some point any insurance coverage has to look at the price of care vs. the chance for cure. How long should they be forced to keep a brain dead patient alive, for instance?

Stating that government "panels" created for this will exist is simply a truth, calling it a "Death Panel" is hyperbole for effect.

I think that people simply confuse what end of life counseling might mean and label the wrong panel as the "Death Panel"... Yeah, it's foolishness, but it doesn't change that there will be a panel that exists solely to make decisions based on cost to benefit analysis.. and when it becomes necessary to ration, it will be that panel making the life or death decisions.
