Rump, now that the election is over, "I no longer think NATO is obsolete."

Rump just gave a press conference, he did not yell at a single reporter.

He did not rant on any arrogant tangents, and he said that he no longer thinks NATO is obsolete.

Our little president is starting to grow up - I am so proud.

This is fun..

Bannon is out!
NATO is in!
HILLARY and Obama's plans on Syria are IN!

He still wont criticize Putin though.

I told you last year that it would take up to six months for Trump to find his feet, maybe if you listened more and bellyached less you might just learn something??

The hilarious thing is his feet are inserted far up the asses of the people he lied to in order to get elected.

I think the "pivot" if that is what it is, is far too late to salvage his presidency, but Rump has surprised me more than once.

So you were for Drumpf when he was taking positions diametrically opposed to Hillary Clinton, and yet now you are for Drumpf when he belatedly adopts Hillary Clinton's positions?

Did you also build a worship shrine to Drumpf in your bedroom?

Other than a nod to his stupidity, I'm not going to join in on the "Trump as Flipper" festivities.

Whatever it takes for this pretender to come to reason is ok with me. I don't care whether he is being leaned on or actually understands SHAPE, it's good.

Trump warms to China as he abandons his foreign policy campaign pledges
Basically Adopts Foreign Policy Positions of Obama-Clinton

WASHINGTON — Nearly three months into office, President Donald Trump has dropped much of his unorthodox campaign rhetoric on foreign policy and embraced a much more establishment view that in many ways doesn't differ much from his Democratic predecessor.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose country he had once called an "economic enemy." He blasted Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time after he'd long been accused of being too friendly with him. He labeled Syrian President Bashar Assad a "butcher," a week after ordering a military strike that he once criticized Barack Obama for contemplating.

And he said he was 100 percent behind NATO, the military alliance created in 1949 that he has previously called "obsolete."

After his news conference with the U.N. Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House, even one-time critics couldn't help notice the change.
"What we may be seeing is a re-centering of this administration," Nicholas Burns, a former ambassador to NATO and undersecretary of state, said on MSNBC.
Perhaps most surprising was Trump's complete reversal regarding China, which he once accused of "raping" the United States and made the villain of much of his tough talk on trade during the campaign. He promised to heavily tax Chinese goods coming into the country. Less than two weeks ago, he called them the "world champions" of currency manipulation. Just last week, Trump braced for what he called "a difficult" meeting with Xi.

But on Wednesday, Trump had little but praise for China and its leader. He said that he and Xi "had a very good bonding" during their two days of meetings last week at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and he praised China for abstaining during a U.N. vote earlier in the day on a resolution on Syria that Russia vetoed.
"I think it's wonderful that they abstained," Trump said.

In a separate interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump also withdrew his pledge to label China a currency manipulator, a campaign promise that he said he would fulfill on his first day in office.

"They're not currency manipulators," Trump said, according to the Journal account.

Trump got played by the baby pics of Syria along with the McMasters/Kushner wing of interventionism.
Hopefully that's it -and there will not be another Libya.

There is an interesting guy on Tucker Carlson ( Richard Cohen) who speaks Russian and has spent 40 years in government/academia studying US/Russian relations.

He's encouraged Tillerson and Putin had a 2 hour meeting -he's also agreeing with Trump and Putin that US/Russian relations are at an all time low.
He makes the point Obama brought us here - Putin's advances in the ME ( not just Syria) and the Uk
occured under Obama, because Obama was completely detached from curbing Russian expansion.

Further he doesn't just drop everything on Obama (nor Trump) but goes back to the heart of the matter-
NATO expansionism or "surrounding Russia"as he puts it.
Ironically Trump approved Moldovia's candidacy for NATO just today.

He mentioned the crazed arms race in Europe by both Russia and the US/Europe as the logical if destructive outcome of all this..

Tillerson and Putin did establish low level talks- more the Obama did after Crimea-
but these are dangerous times, and the have been ginned up by the Russiahobes and the Russian equivalents in both countries

I was wondering how you'd take all this. I hoped the jolt might flip you back to the dissident liberal who though I disagreed with, once respected.

I have no interests in labels/ideologies, or "going back" to anything. It's a constant sojourn for truth ( not "truthiness") where ever it takes me. Building up knowledge bases on subjects and Socratic type questioning
of what comes up by events takes one closer to empiricism-that what exists independent of our mental processing

Thanks ( i think!) and right back at you when you step out of partisan shoes and use your good and rational thought processes - you are most definately worth the read also.

Again, for the dimwits at the back, there were only two choices on offer and I detest Ma Clinton with a passion.

I applaud every move Trump makes towards reasons and abandonment of all the LOSERS who voted for him.

Except in this instance Trump is 'moving towards reason' as a means to leverage China on NK. NK is a festering sore that was ignored for several administrations.

what Obama plans for Syria??
Obama was shut out of the previous Syrian peace talks.

exactly, Obama was baffled by the Syrian situation, it was out of his league the moment Russia entered the picture and took the lead.

There is no easy solution, but Putin and Assad have been served notice "Don't Tread On Me".

it makes me proud to see those words reinserted into American Policy

Obama's hands, much like Trump were tied, Congress doesn't want war, because Americans don't want war.

Yeah, don't tread on Trump he'll notify you before bombing an irrelevant base, for some reason I don't feel Assad or Putin feel threatened.
