I actually sympathize with the sentiment of removing US ground forces from Syria, though Trump obviously put no thought into this and merely issued the order to withdraw based on his attempted manipulation of the news cycle, and to distract from all the news of corruption in his administration.
I always thought Obama had the right idea about being very judicious, and limiting the amount of boots on the ground - aka, ground combat forces - in Arab conflicts. On balance, a wise choice - one you would expect from politician who always knew invading Iraq was a dumb ass idea.
Unfortunately, Trump escalated our presence in Syria. But whatever mistakes the dim-witted and clueless Trumpf made, I still am in favor to judiciously reducing and withdrawing US ground forces from Arab civil war conflicts.
