Ronald Reagan Documentary

The law he broke, in illegally selling arms to Iran, certainly did not arise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors and thus was not an impeachable offense. However, had evidence been found that Reagan was aware of or other wise knew that the profits from the Iranian arms sale were being funneled to the Contras then he would have certainly been impeached. So he certainly skated on thin ice.
Thanks for admitting that you have no evidence to justify your allegation.

We were at peace and he made the political sacrifices that were needed to save the nation from Nixon's failed policies.
Having US citizens held as hostages is your definition of peace? Also, I noticed that you failed to address the economy issue that I brought up. It was nearly as bad then as under The Obama, or Carter II.

and The Mutt Myth/love affair with Carter continues. An entire thread devoted to showing poor little Mutt that Ford had already taken care of most of the problems of Nixon. Carter fucked this nation over with his policies and lack of leadership. Which is why Carter is considered one of the worst Presidents of the past century

Take a look at the Siena poll... It breaks down how the experts view Carter's handling of the economy. They put him in a tie for 40th. Out of 43. (Note, these are 2010 rankings) yet Mutt still pretends Carter just inherited a mess

You mean the huge slow down in the economy, gas rationing and people staying home because they couldn't get gas? That lessening of demand?

:palm:

Again, for those in the cheap seats, crude oil went from $3 to over $30 in a period 1973 to 1979. A tenfold increase is hardly something to just gloss over and dismiss.

You may want to check your numbers. Inflation adjusted, in today's dollars it went from $24 in 1973 to $51 by 1975, remained flat at those levels until 1978, then jumped to $107 by 1980. Obviously a big part of the two moves is OPEC jacking up prices and conflicts in the middle east. The other part is a weak dollar policy. That is why we are currently experiencing higher oil prices. Bush and Obama both maintained a weak dollar policy. Naturally oil prices are going to go up as a result. As for Carter, his 'ya'll just consume less, while I try to prevent more domestic production' policy was also not very helpful.

Yes, and in 1979 it was $77 per barrel followed by a rise to $102 in 1980.

Good one! How long you been holding that gem? At least it's a little better than your standard moveon.moron shtick, which is fucking stupid.

In any event, I'm glad you moved on from the "Carter was a failed leader that bossed Volker around!" nonsense.

President Carter and President Obama do have some things in common, they both were elected after disasters of presidents and were charged with cleaning up huge messes.

President Carter was blamed for the mess Presidents Nixon and Ford created, they are trying to blame President Obama for the mess Presidnet Bush created.

We will soon see if our nation has grown since 79' and diveloped an attention span long enough to not have such a knee jerk political reaction.

Carter was a failed leader. 100% FAILURE.

You can go on pretending that Volcker 'did the same thing' under Reagan and Carter. But the numbers do not support your position. Not in the least.
