And the right is doing a full court press to delegitimize the FBI and to set the stage for them to gut and put in their puppets if they take control again. They are going full Hungary in terms of trying to take control of all the institutions that they need to push aside, that ended up being a foil to Trump the last coup attempt, so for future ones they will be unobstructed.

The same Trumpers had no issue with the FBI and would sing support when it was releasing damaging investigation info to harm her 2016 election campaign.
The sole point of change was when they turned their investigations on to the criminal organization known as the Trump POTUS Administration. Republicans believe the FBI and DOJ need to take a hands off approach to any of their numerous crimes and they want to send a signal to the FBI there will be repercussions down the line, when Republicans can get the power to do it, if you investigate them now. They want to make it just not 'worth it' for the FBI, so they turn a blind eye in the future. That is why DeSantis and Trump are promising to purge all the FBI leadership if they get in. If you are a career FBI guy rising to the top they want you to realize it can be career ending to investigate any republican, so just look away.
