Romney, Susan Collins, Ben Sasse ... "Unwise", "Betrayal", "Bad Decision".

Hello Darth,

No changing the subject lol.

Btw, a lot of the same voices who saying the sky will fall over this we’re claiming all hell would break loose if Trump moved our embassy to Jerusalem—like his predecessors promised.

And, nothing happened.

So, 20 years, 30 hears? How many years is too many?

That question is stupider than Jupiter.

A cute little story comes to mind.

I stayed in a hotel. After I checked out and went on my way, I realized I had forgotten my phone charger. Knowing I was coming back that way I called the hotel and asked about it. The desk told me if any personal items were found they are kept at the front desk, but there was no recollection of a phone charger being turned in that day. Then, another comment was made. "We get a lot of those turned in. We have a box full of them. If one of them works for your phone you can have it."

When I got back to the hotel, I asked to see what they had. A box was brought out which was indeed full of phone chargers. But the cords had not been neatly bundled. The cords of many chargers were all tangled together like a huge ball of twine, in a giant knot, from which none could be easily separated. I had to go to a chair and table to begin to sort through the mass of black cords, plugs and adapters, pulling and tugging, looking for a bit of slack here and there, trying to get enough to allow even one of the devices to be freed from the grips of the tangle. The mass had obviously been turned over and over by many hands, all searching for one that would fit their phone, until it was a giant hopeless knot.

Your question strikes me as if someone had come up to me as I pondered the task ahead of me and asked: "Exactly how long is it going to take to sort out this mess and neatly bundle each charger with it's own rubber band?"

Obviously it is an unreasonable question because the time to complete the task cannot be known until it is completed. Any answer would be merely a guess.

I don't recall how long it took me, but eventually I was able to find a charger that did indeed fit my phone. I have no doubt that most people would look at that daunting mass and simply go buy another charger. It takes a determined mindset to persevere where others would not even try. I also did the good turn of leaving several of those chargers which did not fit my phone neatly bundled so that they would be easily accessible to the next searcher. I was never thanked for that by anyone. I figure random acts of kindness do come back to you. Must be true. I make a habit of random acts of kindness which are not immediately rewarded. I have a great life. Life is very good to me. I love my life. Maybe it's true what goes around comes around.

Erdogan, Trump and Putin's latest favorite dictator for life...

Turkey’s courts lack independence and have no compunction about locking up government critics or opponents while authorities subject them to bogus investigation and trials for terrorism. Widespread misuse of counterterrorism laws against government opponents has undermined legitimate efforts to prosecute those responsible for the 2016 military coup attempt.

Several politically motivated trials of journalists concluded in 2018 with convictions. A court sentenced Ahmet Altan, Mehmet Altan, and Nazlı Ilıcak, prominent writers, to life in prison without parole for political commentary that did not advocate violence but that the court rules was an attempt to overthrow the government.

The authorities stepped up the targeting of human rights defenders, including a new investigation focused on the 2013 mass anti-government demonstrations in Istanbul known as the Gezi protests. Chief among those under investigation was an unjustly jailed businessman and leader of a cultural organization, Osman Kavala.

The government defied a European Court ruling for the release of opposition politician Selahattin Demirtaş, who has been arbitrarily jailed for over two years, along with other former parliament members and elected mayors from pro-Kurdish parties. With local elections scheduled for March 2019, local democracy in the southeastern part of the country remains suspended. The government controls 94 municipalities in the region after ousting the representatives the Kurdish population elected.

World Report 2019 also looks at restrictions on the right to peaceful protest and assembly in Turkey, attacks on academic freedom, and a failure to investigate allegations of torture in police custody. Turkey remains host to the highest number of refugees in the world.

Good lol.

So, if and when we reach the 25-30 year mark in Syria [entirely plausible, given the parties involved] do we pull out or press-on till the job is ‘finished’—however that’s, defined?

the issue isn't about Syrian sovereignty, its about US efforts to combat ISIS and keep Assad in check (he's a mass murderer in case you didn't know)

why do you support ISIS all of a sudden...….because you're just another Trump cult member perhaps?

let's be fair.......the ONLY issue is Trump = bad........

"Prominent lawmakers in both parties admonished the White House on Monday for its controversial decision to allow Turkey to invade northern Syria and potentially wipe out U.S.-allied Kurdish fighters, with Republican hawks and moderates joining with Democrats to blast the move."

"“This is a terribly unwise decision by the president to abandon our Kurdish allies, who have been our major partner in the fight against the lslamic State,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) told POLITICO. Frequent Trump critic Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) also denounced the maneuver as “a betrayal” which communicates to allies abroad that the U.S. is an unreliable partner. And Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) warned the administration's “bad decision will likely result in the slaughter of allies who fought with us, including women and children.”"

I don't care what a bunch of people who have always been opposed to President Trump thinks. Why do you think quoting these quasi democrats helps your cause?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

Message to all other allies of the USA: Do not trust in the USA. We cannot be trusted. Our word is meaningless. We have no more credibility than our shiftless leader.
So sad, it’s embarrassing what Trump has done to our country.

So sad, it’s embarrassing what Trump has done to our country.

What is embarrassing and scary for our allies is that their conversations with a President can be leaked by a Deep State for political reasons.

The left is doing lasting damage to this country all because they can't accept the results of the 2016 election.

They are childish pricks and I hope they and their families all get cancer and die

I’m for withdrawing, I just wish it to be done in a fashion that’s gives our allies time to prepare for our departure.

you mean give the always at war contingent more time to utter their war propaganda and try to convince America to do things against our interests?

Hello Darth,

Not sure that would go well with the people stationed there lol.

The small force which could easily be rotated out, but was doing so much?

If Trump wanted to bring troops home he has a lot more in Afghanistan. A stupid needless war started by Republican chickenhawks.

It's also the Pentagon. You know, the guys that actually know what's going on.
"Pentagon and State Department officials held out the possibility of persuading Turkey to abandon its expected invasion. U.S. officials said they had seen no indication that Turkey had begun a military operation by late Monday."

Babysit? It's a fucking shooting war. You call it babysitting. The Kurds fought and died to help us. Trump says so what. He has a huge hotel in Turkey.

You mean we fought and died for THEM don’t you?

I don’t recall any Kurds being in this country fighting for us.
