Romney platform "like an Etch-a-Sketch" says his top adviser

I've seen them control the message far better than this in the past, even among groups outside the campaign. They've proven very good at keeping control of the message. Are you saying that you think they've lost this rare ability and are allowing others to set the tempo?

No. I'm saying that they have really done anything w/ Romney's comment yet - they let the other GOP candidates tee off on it.

I think you saw the OP and didn't really read it, and thought it was the Obama campaign making a big deal out of it, though....

I think I saw that it was the Huffpost making a big deal of it. I fully expected this to come out again through, I just expected them to control the timing better. You don't want them inoculated early from what you want to use as a later attack.

Are you saying that "they" controlled Gingrich and Santorum?

Newt Gingrich also mocked the Etch-A-Sketch shtick when he was in Houma, La. on Thursday, saying that just like the toy’s images, Romney’s positions aren’t permanent."If you're serious about changing Washington, D.C., you can't use an Etch-A-Sketch,” Gingrich said. “You can't have a child's toy for the presidency."

LOL - you saw it was Huffpost, and concluded that Obama was playing his "trumps," and tried to portray his campaign as desperate as a result.

Nah - you're not too partisan...

k...

I don't think I've ever claimed to be non-partisan. Methinks you are a bit too much about me.

This isn't the only place I've seen this recently. It makes more sense if this is just a rootbeer thing and that this isn't widespread. They'll want to hold this gem until it is closer to election time where it will have more effect.

The article is from March, when he made the comment. The other GOP candidates then proceeded to ridicule him for about 2 weeks afterwards. I seriously doubt Obama's campaign had much to do w/ the coverage, and I also doubt that they didn't welcome the coverage that resulted from that.

Not widespread?

As I said, it would make more sense then. Had this been the only place I've seen the allusion I'd likely not have stated what I did.

If they're holding it to their chest and it was a simple form of Rootbeer repetition it makes more sense to me.

Personally, I'd hold that gem and then make an ad with his own party trashing him beginning early to late September... I'd more likely get my new Superpac to do it..

Don't give them too much time to inoculate themselves so that these ads will have good effect.

Translation: Onceler was right, Damocles didn't read the OP thoroughly and jumped to conclusions.
