Roberts rejects Trump’s call for impeaching judge who ruled against his deportation plans

The judge most surely can take his case all the way up to the supreme court if he is unjustly removed.
Not correct. He can present a defense at his Impeachment hearing, but if the Senate votes to Convict there is no appeal. The constitution does not grant the SCOTUS, or any court for that matter, any such authority.

Federal judges do have lifetime appointments under Article III of the Constitution, but they can be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” just like the president and other federal officials. However, impeachment of a judge is extremely rare and requires a majority vote in the House of Representatives and a two-thirds vote in the Senate for removal.

When the Trump administration or its allies talked about impeaching judges, it was often more about political posturing than a realistic attempt to remove them. Judges cannot be impeached simply for making rulings that a president or party disagrees with—there must be actual misconduct, such as corruption or criminal behavior.

Attempts to impeach judges for ruling against a president’s executive orders would undermine judicial independence, which is a cornerstone of the Constitution’s separation of powers. Historically, such efforts have not succeeded because both parties in the Senate have been reluctant to set a precedent of removing judges for political reasons.

Trump could have the CIA take care of him.

Oh, they can be impeached for anything just like the President... just as the President can be impeached for political reasons so too can judges. Impeachment is a political act and is not always up to par with what folks might consider a criminal trial. If you can get 2/3 of the Senate to vote to impeach after articles of impeachment pass the House you will remove them no matter what reason they put in the articles of impeachment.

So trump will impeach all judges who disagree with him? You think this is how things should work in your country?

I don't think they will pass a single article of impeachment against any of them. And if they do I do not think any of them will pass the 2/3 vote thing...

There's a reason that so few have been impeached, that 2/3 vote means that it will take something seriously egregious before you will get that kind of bipartisanship or that kind of supermajority for a party. So far no President has been removed from office and only 8 judges...

My points on this thread aren't about what "should" happen, only what the constitution says.

"high crimes and misdemeanors", it is the same for any of the offices and literally allows them to vote articles of impeachment with a simple majority, so "bringing" the charges is easier than convicting.

Clinton was removed no?

WASHINGTON (AP) — In an extraordinary display of conflict between the executive and judiciary branches, Chief Justice John Roberts rejected calls for impeaching judges shortly after President Donald Trump demanded the removal of one who ruled against his deportation plans.

Wow, Roberts has a conscience!
Sharks don't eat each other.

No, he was not. Clinton faced a trial, but was not convicted in the Senate. Just like with Trump twice... No conviction = no removal. Though Trump's second impeachment was an attempt to keep him from running again...
Oh I thought he was. I was very young at the time. Thank you for the correction.

No problem. The only President ever impeached that was actually close to being removed was the first one, he was not convicted by only one vote. Andrew Johnson in 1868. He was not removed, but that one was close. Literally the last vote... folks watched as it fluttered to the floor in dramatic style...

And Nixon only President to resign.
