The Dems were not the ones trying to keep the Nicaraguans from freedom. That was what Reagan was trying to do.

Reagan supported brutal right wing dictators in Central America to the detriment of freedom while he out spent the Soviets to their detriment. But to pretend that Reagan has no blood on his hands is to ignore history.

I slam Democrats because they are wrong nearly 100% of the time. Wrongo it was the Democrats who were against the freedom fighters.

Are you claiming that Reagan was a democrat? The Contras (which his administration broke the law to fund) were terrorists.

The Catholic Institute for International Relations talked about the Contras and they said "The record of the contras in the field, as opposed to their official professions of democratic faith, is one of consistent and bloody abuse of human rights, of murder, torture, mutilation, rape, arson, destruction and kidnapping."

The Contras attacked civilian targets and slaughtered thousands of women and children. They were not a force for freedom. They were a terrorist organization.

That may be. But that has nothing to do with the Contras. They have the blood of women and children on their hands. The Contras often targeted healthcare clinics for destruction and healthcare workers for assassination. So much for them being "freedom fighters".

You keep talking about freedom while ignoring the fact that the Contras were not fighting for freedom. They were fighting against the democratically elected government. And from what I can find there were no allegations of any serious misconduct during those elections.

If the people of a soveriegn nation elect their government, then the US does not have the right to fund terrorist groups to try and overthrow them. They especially do not have the right to break our laws to fund those terrorists.

I have not found any allegations of serious misconduct.

And unless there is evidence of the elections being rigged you do not fund militant terrorists to overthrow the government.

The motives? How about the fact that we were meddling in places we had no business? How about the fact that we thought we knew what they needed better than they did? How about the fact that we tried to take away their freedom to vote on their own government?


This shows you as a complete partisan. When confronted with the crimes of a republican administration you do nothing but dance around the issue and post single sentence propaganda lines and deny the actions were wrong.

There are plenty of facts to back up what I have posted. If you choose to ignore them in favor of hero worship that is your failing not mine.

You keep talking about freedom. Who's freedom are you talking about? Because the Contras were not fighting for the freedom of Nicaragua.

And what US interests are you talking about? And do those interests override the interests of a sovereign nation? Or that nation's right to govern itself without interference?
