Meme, this man caused the death of two young men who grew up with my older brother. I remember when their families were notified. I remember talking about them not playing backyard football again or being home for holidays.

I know others who came home but were never the same.



It may be callous but I refuse to hold my tongue when it comes to the death of this man who caused so much pain to so many.

The object of war is to destroy the enemies ability to fight back (I am sure I have paraphrased Sun Tsu badly)

I'm reminded of this when I think of war and how its bombs and bullets may miss a young man but still just as surely destroy him.

He may have been smart. But he was also the worst person to have in charge of the Pentagon at the time. His decisions cost tens of thousands of american soldiers their lives.

Because he didn't try to win it. He hamstrung the military and did not allow them to fight back in ways they should have fought back.

And we never should have been there in the first place. The whole notion that we would win and stop the spread of communism into that small nothing country was stupid to begin with.

And no its not a democrat thing. Some of the same restrictions were used in Iraq. And the same sort of insurgency is kicking our ass in places.
