Nope. It's exactly what happened. Prior to the "face off", the Native American was singing and playing his drum as he walked past the racist Black Israelites who hurled racist epithets and insults at those kids.

I don't recall the media portraying him as a racist instigator? But I do recall them implying that the kid was getting in the Native American's face, possibly to taunt him.
