It doesn't matter if you're protecting the country. Any agency providing information Republicans deem, "unhelpful to them" is dismissed and ridiculed. The truth hurts Republicans which is why they keep trying to twist it to their will.

I distinctly remember every present day right wing wonk/oather/teabagger/neocon, even fibbertarians to a degree all hoping on board in defense or excuse of this quasi-Gestapo agency, along with the STASI like powers installed to it via the Patriot Act.

Now the chickens have come home to roost (as we Progressives and Independents, liberals and even some Democrats had warned), and they don't like it.
