Right to work...for LESS

Very true. And that's why the argument that unions are no longer necessary is a tad flawed. I'm as anti union as they come. I can tell you stories of gross incompetence on union jobs. But, ridding the country of unions will start a tidal wave of regression into the darkest days of labor having no defense against mgmt.

This is going to be an interesting fight to watch.
The problem is the "you have to join" mentality. If I think my job sucks, i might try to unionize or join an already existing union, if not I won't. The point is choice, you know, freedom.

I understand. Typically, dues are fairly cheap, and they include pension, healthcare, etc. Of course it varies w/each union. Some are impotent, and a waste of money. Others represent the members well.

No matter which union you belong to, one thing is for certain. The officers make out much better than the peons, and more often than not, they're squandering union dues on wine, women, and song.

Wow. You are the first left-leaning person on this board I've heard say anything remotely negative about unions.

Most of the non R-T-W states have state and other local taxes. Not to mention union dues and higher prices for stuff in general.

It's the choice that bothers me, if I want a pension and healthcare, I'll plan for it myself, leave the money you would have spent on it in my paycheck, I don't care to employ people whose only job is to "represent" me.

don't worry.....the bills don't actually do what Bfrn claims they do....which you ought to have expected in the first place.......

I see a pattern to your posts. Empty, dishonest, ignorant.

Maybe you can post another unlabeled chart with no link. Or maybe you can just continue to emote.

Link that up.. I noticed on the list of RTW states that most of them have a lower cost of living which could account for the lower pay. Considering that living costs are cheaper, it may be that the pay is actually quite equivalent.

Wow, your mind has it's own personal gravity doesn't it? No matter where somebody throws the conversation, it always spins back the same way.

Never have gotten an answer to the question, how many tickets did the cops have to give you before you were eternally hating them because you can't drive within limits?

I havent had a ticket that I havent beaten in court for over 10 years, so my 'hatred' isnt because of my driving. in case you havent paid attention, maybe you should read my posts about police misconduct.

So what you're saying is it was 11 years ago? And nobody develops the close personal hatred you have for the police without something they feel wronged about.

What part of "break unions" don't you understand Dixie Lou? Now you have moved the goalposts because Norquist didn't say "dismantle unions"

Not only are you a pin head, you are a dishonest piece of shit.

Isn't it ironic, when liberals and Democrats propose legislation, it gives people new rights or increases rights they had previously gained. When conservatives and Republicans propose legislation, it takes away people rights or restricts rights they fought for generations to gain.

Conservatism has become a cancer on our society and our people. It is more dangerous than any terrorist organization, because terrorists are honest in stating their hate for America. You right wing scum spit in the face of our ancestors, men and women who fought for labor rights. Some of them even lost their life in that cause.

"Labor is the United States. The men and women, who with their minds, their hearts and hands, create the wealth that is shared in this country—they are America."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Well, in context of what he was saying, "break unions" means to break their political influence. He said nothing about "dismantling unions" and none of you have shown that to be the case with him or anyone else. AGAIN... it is constitutionally impossible to dismantle unions. Does your idiot ass comprehend that?

you like to make false assumptions alot. my crusade for police accountability started 3 years ago, and no, it wasnt because of anything I did or that was done to me.

Yes, because wages will be so low, the unions will be a force once again.

Actually, Althea, your prophetic remark is happening TODAY!!!!!! Because of the recent toe-stepping by the repubs and the advertisements of Walmart et al the Unions are blistering busy organizing and being met with open arms and signing up more members than at any time since the 1970's. The notion that the Hostess thieves are making off with millions for destroying a well respected brand and the jobs of 18,000 workers is also helping the Unions. NOT hurting them at all!!!!!!! My best friend WAS a Hostess baker. He now works in a smaller bakery but remains Unionized and got a raise to boot!!!!!!! Fantastic news for the Unions!!!!!!! Not so good for the scabs and otherwise idiotic rightwingers.

They went up. Indiana has the highest growth rate of minimum wage jobs in the Midwest since they became a RTK state.

Here's a list of RTK States and their rankings by Median Household Income.

Alabama (46) $41,415
Arizona (30) $46,709
Arkansas (48) $38,758
Florida (37) $44,299
Georgia (33) $46,007
Idaho (40) $43,341
Indiana (31) $46,438
Iowa (24) $49,427
Kansas (26) $48,964
Louisianna (44) $41,734
Mississippi (50) $36,919
Nebraska (22) $50,296
Nevada (27) $48,927
North Carolina (39) $43,916
North Dakota (20) $51, 704
Oklahoma (41) $43,225
South Carolina (42) $42, 367
South Dakota (28) $48,321
Tennessee (45) $41,693
Texas (25) $49,392
Utah (14) $55, 869
Virginia (7) $61,882
Wyoming (13) $56,322

That's an average ranking of RTK States of 32. That's only 7 States in the top 25 in Median Household Income and only 1 State in the top ten. The average median household income in RTK State is $46,867

By way of comparision there are only 8 non RTK State in the bottom 25 of median household income and only 2 (KY and WV) are in the bottom 10. The average household median income for non-RTK States is $54, 185. So on average a person living on an RTK State has a median household income $8,000/year more than a non-RTK State and $4,000 more than the national median household income of $50,502.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_income#States_ranked_by_median_household_income

That would be relevant if it cost exactly the same to live in every state. It doesn't.

EPIC FAIL.

You and your union thugs took one on the chin. This isn't about workers, this is about the democrats money laundering scheme

Why are you anti choice?

you were too stupid to read it?.......I'm sorry...but then, I wasn't responsible for your education....your claim in this thread was an outright lie.......certainly a pattern in YOUR posts.....

It is also constituinaly impossible to enter a house without a warrent, to veiw mail or e-mails, to tap phone calls yet it happens every day. Nice try though.
